I think I have a handle on this but...

I've synched EDDiscovery to EDSM but it seems EDSM is missing swathes of data about me. I think the only way to get a full history into EDSM is to upload every log file manually - say, in bunches of 20 or so files at a time. Is that assumption correct?

My log files total some 250mb so getting that lot up will take a bit - my upload speed is vastly slower than my download.

First, I'd check if your logs are available in/recognized by EDD. Then, you have that button (top row, rightmost button) "Send any unsynced logs to EDSM". Click that, then wait a few hours for the upload (upload progress should be shown in the EDD log window bottom right), then wait a couple of days or so and check if the data shows up in EDSM. EDSM might need a sync run to show the data.
