EDSM "This system needs more distances"?

What is EDSM asking for on the main page where it give a system and this message: "This system needs more distances.".

I tried looking around EDSM and did not find an answer so I don't know what it is asking for or how to take and submit the distances.

A long time ago, the coordinates for star systems weren't logged into the journals, and so they had to be calculated from manually entered distances. This would let EDSM calculate based on trilateration There are still many systems in the database that don't have their coordinates sufficiently calculated. The other option nowadays is for someone to fly through them again, and get precise coordinates that way, but most of these systems are scattered all over the galaxy and so that would be a monumental task.

Here's a map of the estimated locations for systems without coordinates:

Yeah, it's a disappointingly huge number. Otherwise we could hammer it out. Instead it looks to be a herculean task, and even with a "divide and conquer" approach, it's still a lot.

On the plus side the number should not get any larger.

Just for the fun of it I took a quick run out and have knocked the 2 Sifi systems off the list, as I am only using my bubble taxi I am heading back.

edit - Forgot to mention that when I go out into the black I will monitor that listing and try to plot via any that are close enough to my route.
