EEK powerplay UI

I can't be the only one wincing inwardly at the busy UI with lots of small text. This looks like it's going to make life really unpleasant for VR users, unless they introduce some sort of "VR MODE" where the UI is twice as big, and curves around the user in space (which works well in other games).

Why would they care about a product that's still in beta? The "final" OR might well have a different display.

It's all red...I guess the FD staff never got the memo about the rift and reading red lettering on screen.

Well, there are two separate issues- basic HCI design and mitigation strategies. We can patch some of the cracks in the current poor design by hacking the UI colours, and using shaders in post-rendering etc.. You can make the UI green to take advantage of the pentile pixel distribution, too. It doesn't make it well-designed, but it mitigates problems in what's there. All of those mitigation practises could be used to enhance the appearance of a good design, now and on future devices, of course- kinda a no-brainer.

Am I the only one who basically only puts the Rift on in specific situations when I'm ready go out hunting with it? I'm not saying the game should be based around that and that they shouldn't try to make it play nice on VR, I just find the game a lot more enjoyable if I handle stuff like this, the galaxy map, trading, etc on my screen, then pull my rift down when I want to do combat or really play, or get immersed.

I find this works better for me anyway as the rift gets heavy and uncomfortable so quickly. By only putting it on when I leave a station with an objective in mind, after my planning was done on the 2D screen, I just find it to be a more enjoyable experience.

I completely sympathize with wanting everything to be handled in-rift though without having to break your immersion or fiddle around with graphic modes. Just to me, the weight and "costs" of the rift start to outweigh the "annoyance" of switching modes after some time. Dunno if it's just me

I wear mine 100% of the time. (in game, anyways)

Is there a way to switch between Rift and screen quickly, in game? You don't mean that tiny window that displays the view of the Rift on screen, do you?
I'm asking just out of curiosity. I acutally only take the rift off to check any external tools or information on the forums.
Personally I like the immersive display of the galaxy map in the Rift very much. I also don't think it's harder to use (at least with a X52), except finding the keyboard for typing.
