Effect of "Speeding" near stations?

After one of the most recent patches I started noticing that, if I exceed a speed of 100 in the vicinity of a station, the word "Speeding" appears on the right side of my cockpit, in the same position that it would report I was "Wanted" if that were the case. But there doesn't seem to be any actual negative effect (or any effect at all) from exceeding that speed, or at least not that I have noticed. Does anyone know why that text has started showing up and what (if any) game impact it has?

One time I got shot at for boosting through the letter box but they stopped shooting after I was through (leaving not docking)

Basically it is like the German highway speed rules ((correct me if I'm wrong)) there's no actual "speed limit" you can go as fast as you want and feel safe doing, but when you are going above x then you are speeding, and any accident you are in, you are going to be held responsible for.

It's the Anti-Ramming Initiative, put in during the last big update. It's only an issue if you actually hit anyone while speeding though. If you can manage not to crash into other ships in the NFZ you don't need to sweat it.

Ah, thanks. I guess the fact that I speed "safely" means that it probably isn't anything I need to worry about, then.

"Really, Mr Officer, you shouldn't be writing me a ticket ... I can handle this speed!"

Just avoid speeding while going through the entrance, then after getting out point your ship in a shipless direction and boost away without worry.

I had the same question too - I saw the speeding warning, but couldn't figure out if there was anything else to it.

I also noticed that if you use a docking computer, then there isn't any "Speeding" warning, no matter how fast you are going. So, I guess if you use a DC, you can plow through anything without penalty. (which makes sense regarding the anti-ramming initiative.)

Only 25% of German Highways are Autobahns BTW (before trying to explain to the Police why you were doing over 150)
