Engineers Efficent ways of getting stuff for the Engineers..

So for those of us who are interested in upgrading our ships there comes a challenge of sorts..

We need stuff.. and lots of it.. I thought I would reach out to everyone to create a thread whereby we can discuss best ways to get our upgrades and make our engineers happy. So my question to everyone is what are the most efficient ways to secure this..

I thought we could share our ideas, hints and tips.. For all its gonna take some effort I'm not that bothered about the RNG.. I'm more concerned about how we collect what we require..

Its a given we can get syth materials from planets (im sure there are threads on that too) and this isn't a prob for me.

Anyhows, I've decided to fit a ship just for the collection of materials, since randomly rolling around in my FDL wasn't cutting it.

So I set up a reasonably effectivel Clipper, which I think is fairly accessible, purely for the collection of materials. It has a 64 ton cargo bay, fitted with limpets because manually scooping this stuff is the best way to having a rage moment. As it stands I do USS or RES sites and collect stuff.. And for the time being thats what I'm gonna be doing..

So what are your thoughts? :)

Combat in an anarchy system in the nav beacon is fairly lucrative to me... Totally not killing traders for the haulage mats ;)
I'm thinking of 'stepping up my game' by going to RES sites for some of the rarer materials. As another source, missions would probably prove to be really lucrative for some of the rarer materials (the materials vary per mission but as far as I could tell it's always known when you take it what reward you'll get), but salvage wrecks (encoded emissions data USS for the higher value stuff, degraded emissions data USS for the lower value stuff) is also a viable option. I don't know how the star system affects what given (at the very least, there are some Empire and Federal star system specific materials), but the further out you go from inhabited space, the more likely you are to find those USS types. Also, if you're out far enough, less trade goods seem to spawn and more materials. Encoded USS only has materials. For the data materials you'll need to scan the data beacons that spawn in the wrecks.
Oh, and as for the planet materials: I have a whole spreadsheet with their locations and their spawn rates. That's probably something worth looking into for yourself (mind is near my home system).
