Its all about identifying and popping off the males before they've developed enough to have any awareness of pain or fear.
Its a really good thing.
Now we just need to get everyone onto free range eggs only and adjust the legislation around free range so its less about ticking a few legal boxes to minimally reclassify your battery farm and more about actual animal welfare.

Tis ironic how it seems that the world belives that life begins for the lower form of animals after they hatch and humans before that hatch. This article is in referrence to eggs which are choose to hatch chickens in which case the industry only uses females (Chicken's) not males (Rooster's). Eggs for the purpose of comsumtion, are a different subject.
Its about identifying the males at 6 days incubation so they can be culled before they are aware for mass farming. At six days IIRC they've barely begun developing blood vessels, so less cruelty and more efficiency.
Chickens are not a lower form of animal, mine are all hilarious.
