Notice EGX Paintjob Codes (and the forums) - how to use them!

Greetings Commanders,

Over the next few days we will be giving away some special EGX Paintjob codes!

As for here on these forums, the codes will show up in a global notice to all of the forum.

Additionally, we'll be posting codes on our Twitter, Facebook, and over on the Elite Dangerous subreddit.

As for what time they will show up, that's a secret! Just have to pay attention. :D

You're probably asking....

  • Where will the codes show up here on the forums?
You'll see codes appear in the general notice box area (at the top of the forums).

  • When will they show up?
At random. We will spread out the code posting throughout the day, each day!

  • How many days will codes be given away?
The entire duration of EGX!

  • Where can I apply the code?
Direct your browser to: https://www.elitedangerous.com/en/redeem-gift - ready that F5 along with your hot CTRL C and CTRL V action... because... this.. is.. mayhem!!

Thanks,
Brett

And this is a positive thing why exactly?

I mentioned the notion in another thread, but I will go one step further now: I hope someone is automating the hell out of this.
I can always scatter the code segments about... but that would be a lot of work for all parties. :p

What on earth is the point of this? Distributing stuff to people who have nothing better to do with their day than refresh their browsers, and encouraging that behaviour... wouldn't the same promotional value be achieved by giving them to (say) everybody who is in-game this week, thus allowing people with jobs to benefit?

There as an example on twitter already:
Yeah, though if people begin using machines to get these codes it at least in my eyes ruins the whole idea behind a giveaway, and it becomes who has a machine that can sit and handle this stuff separately, and not actually you know, looking at the pages and watching the stuff.

Because sitting all day hitting refresh has so much more value to... well, anybody, than writing a script to do it for you?

The idea is a stupid one, so I'm not surprised that people find ways around it.

I would not say no to a crash test dummy decal for those who have reported bugs during a beta...

Don't think anyone would bother. From what I gather there is one special EGX paintjob and the codes will all be for the same thing. Once you have 1 then your time spent creating this farm code is wasted.

Sending the codes to people at random in the game during the event in the form of a message from the Pilots Federation or something would be awesome. Might cause me to pay a few insurance claims though. ;)

For someone experienced in this type of stuff, it'd probably be less effort and time spent than watching twitter, facebook, forums and reddit all weekend long. :D

If someone can be bothered, for one paintjob, then good luck to them I say! :)
