Nice!

Next question - how moddable is it now that it's not a Creation Kit game anymore? Apparently Data folder with ESP/ESM/BA2 files is there, even though it's UE5. Good start!

Apparently UE5 is pushing the visuals but the old Gamebryo is still doing the rest of the game, at least according to the livestream that’s just been on.

VR wise, Praydog has just posted a short video of it working though no motion controls of course. Looks like I’ll be buying Oblivion for the third time then 😅

Edit: aiming confirmed to be either HMD or motion controls, roomscale movement works.

Welp, I downloaded it, played a few hours and I'm genuinely impressed with it. Considering I first played Oblivion 20 odd years ago on an Xbox 360, this is a proper remaster. Impressive visuals (around 100 fps@ 2k resolution for me on full ultra settings) gameplay do-over, even the combat system has had a revamp.

10/10 so far :)

It will be interesting how 'Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon' gets on next month. Will this Oblivion remaster help or hinder its cause. I think it could help by drawing in new players and rasing the profile of such games.

It also makes you wonder if there's a Skyrim remaster coming too. It would seem odd to do only Oblivion.

Anyway, it's happy days for sword and sorcery gamers.

I've bought so many remakes, remasters and super-duper-lickety-split versions of Skyrim since it was released, Bethesda should have paid me to download Oblivion, never mind getting it on Gamepass

I have been reading a lot of good things about it, which has resulted in me adding it to my collection. No played it yet, but I shall get to it when I have finished Atomfall.

I had a look but honestly I don't really see the point. Anything past PS1-era blocky graphics looks "good enough" to be more than playable even now so it just seems a waste of time. And it doesn't even look that great to me, just the generic Unreal Engine look and the vibrant colours of the original all seem to be gone. Plus the selection outlining is really ugly and seems so unimmersive for a game like this. I'm not playing Robocop.
