Is with deep concern and a heavy heart that I bring you news about my home system of Eleu and a civil war that has just exploded yesterday with the neighboring system of Santjalan.
Background: Conflict Development
Santjalan Commodities (SCo), a high tech corporation that has been ruling the system for the last 40 years, it’s been for the most part an ally in the relationship between the systems. Locally known as "The Twins" -due to their scarce 2.86 light year proximity- Santjalan and Eleu had always maintained close ties, benefiting from each other in their common goal of maintaining their independence from the 3 major factions, while sustaining their economies and stability. However, the yesteryear economic and political partner has lately turned into a greedy and vicious organization, exploiting its employees, abusing labor laws and even breaking contracts and business with many vendors and customers in a bid to maximize profits. The change of direction seems to be related to the passing of SCo President, Julius Albicarius, last December, and who’s been succeeded by Narin Zdejany, former CFO for the corporation.
The new management has sparked widespread discontent among Santjalan employees and workers, many of which have quit or fled to Eleu seeking the principles of Democracy, Equality and Freedom the Social Eleu Progressive Party (SEPP) has always maintain. Acknowledging the dignity and political process of our brothers in Santjalan, SEPP kept itself on the fence for few weeks, hoping some kind of stability would be brought by Mr.Zdejany. It was during that period that some minor faction -the Eleu for Equality Party (EEP)- acting on the fringe of laws, started a campaign to destabilize SEPP lawful and rightful government of Eleu.
The EEP has been a high profile suspect in a bombing attack that left 6 people injured in Eleu’s Bao Orbital last month and not known terrorist organization has claimed yet. To our dismay, some intelligence sources confirmed that EPP campaign has been largely funded by Mr.Zdejany and SCo. The SEPP response has been firm: we have expanded our operations in Santjalan, bringing our message of hope and freedom to our brothers and extending a hand to the desperate people working almost under condition of slavery in Santjalan.
The tension could not last forever and finally yesterday, in a stoic cry for change, workers at Martinez City in Santjalan started a protest shutting down the outpost landing pads for almost an hour, which initiated a harsh response by SCo Security and the workers. In the melee, a 10 year old girl, was killed by the SCo Forces, and that ignited the crowd of thousands and thousands of workers that then took over the scientific outpost. They then turned to the spaceships some to flee to Eleu, others to go for Cantor Terminal, SCo Headquarters, to keep on with the coup.
As of now, and in lights of these developments, the SEPP is no longer looking from afar how SCo massacres our Santjalan brothers and sisters and we are assisting them in the taking over of the system. However, being a mainly agricultural and poor system, Eleu’s forces are none to match any of that from a corporate faction, for which our soldiers and workers are fighting shoulder to shoulder with the equipment available.
Current Status: Civil War
The Social Eleu Progressive Party is calling for all commanders to come and assist us in the tedious and difficult task of defeating Santjalan Commodities and Mr.Zdejany devious and cruel ruling, once and for all.
Pilots report to either of the two combat zones in Santjalan, join the Social Eleu Progressive Party, and fight against the SCo forces. You can cash your bonds, or make any repairs in Cantor Terminal –where our faction holds a portion of the station- or you can run missions for us from Martinez City, which is an outpost on the verge of freedom from the grasp of the SCo.
Eleu’s Finney Dock –SEPP Headquarters- can be your rendez-vous point and your stay over camps. You can also cash bonds here. Or for those doing trading, we have our famous Thermal’s that are very well paid 100ly or farther away.
