Elite 2 theme orchestral cover

This has cropped up a few times on the forums, with peopel saying they love it. Personally I don't like it as much as the original! I've got the original in the car for my journeys on the motorway heh :)

And another one. Oldie but goodie.

Nothing beats the original on the Amiga though.

I personally think that ED will only be complete when we can recreate the FE2 intro with it.

I'd love to have an option to have the original midi soundtrack in game... going into battle with Ride of the Valykries :)

The more footage of Elite 2 I see, the more I can't unsee what ED still lacks.

Though to be honest, texture artists had a much easier job back then...

Nostalgia speaking here.

After listening the original, I was reminded of another nice soundtrack that appeared around the same time Elite 2 was out :)

The very first contact with a joystick...

PS : it's the imperial navy anthem (booo)

The old iMUSE system... I miss it. One seamless sounding musical track from the moment you launched to the moment you finished your mission, all pieced together from different phrases, chosen depending on the situation you happened to be in at the time, with proper transitions and everything from one mood to another. Curious how much work it took to set up and synchronize with events in-game.

Once upon a time I wrote a little program to extract the music from the TIE Fighter data files, and found that for the in-flight music, there was 141 midi files, all about 8-10 seconds long...
