Elite Anaconda is causing me trouble, forced to change ship

A certain mission to kill a Elite Anaconda is troubling. I can not beat him in my upgraded Eagle. His turrets hit me most of the time even with chafs and manouvering.

Am I forced to buy a Viper or better for these opponents?

It's one of the toughest (if not the toughest) ship to fight in the game. It can be done in an Eagle but far easier to do it in a Viper.

Stay on his tail as his guns will have trouble hitting you if you are right at his 6 'o clock. This part is actually easier in an Eagle since you can out-turn him; it's harder in a Viper and you'll take some hits. You'll also want to be sure that, once you get his shields down, you're targeting his power plant subsystem as you'll be able to destroy that much more quickly than his hull. You'll still need a good shield cell bank.

I wouldn't spend too much time on this now, though. Vipers don't take too long to get and once you have one with even partially upgraded systems, these fights are cake.

it is nearly impossible to kill elite Anaconda with eagle.

I have one method of killing Elite anacondas with my Cobra III (I have spent 4 millions to put A4 Shield, A4 Power distribution, Military armor and decent guns), I'm making circles ans Shooting, after shield are nearly off, I'm flying far to recharge my Shields, after about 5 minutes "police" is coming, scanning us and after they are attacking Anaconda; after that it is much easier for me to kill anaconda, since it has to attack at list 3 ships.

I even did not tried to kill anaconda with eagle, I'm spending quite time to kill it with my cobra, and I think I have all important parts A-class of maximum size for my ship.

Yeah, I discovered Shield batteries yesterday, did not tried it yet, maybe it is much easier with them to kill enemy (in terms of getting less shield recharge time)

Yes. Everything is upgraded. Thing is, took out a Python without issue just before. Think it is his special loadout that is causing trouble. Even if i stay behind him he hits me. Going to try some
alternative tactics tommorow. Good night :)

I also think that its nearly impossible, i cant do it with a Upgraded Cobra also, there are exceptions, it usually depends (at least for me) on some things. Are you alone? When some Bounty hunter Npcs are also attacking the ship it makes thing alot easier, the Anaconda will still take you as main target for some reason but other ships tend to distract it. What weapons does it have? Elites i have encountered always had beam lasers, that stuff hits you from nearly any angle except when you are extremly close behind the engines, and its also hard to stay there, mostly you wont stay there 100% of the time, and its also more or less dangerous because of the Crashing damage you could get. Also depending on the rank the ships have thougher Shields and Hulls, so its takes far longer to beat the ship.

In my case Expert Anacondas are currently my limit when im completly alone (im using 4x Gimballed Multicannons A grade Shields, Generator, Hull, the Ammunition Charged Shield refresher - dont know the correct name in english here, im geared out in terms of defence), so i'd say you need really good skills, Equipment, and a load of luck and even then i think you will die most of the time. Thats just my experience, maybe someone else knows better Tactics/Weapons to do this

just buy a Cobra this ship is the response to your dreams, very OP at anything you would want to do, the best at everything compare to other ship of it's size/price

fastest ship, great cargo, best fighter, nice Jump range, and the stock version is decent

Hmm when you got the assasinate mission in a policed system you can get shot and report to the feds for backup.
You just gotta stay alive for some mins and use them as a distraction.

But well it is a tough fight in the little eagle, dancing with elite 'condas.

You can try to drop the shields with a beam laser and aim for the shield gen with gimballed weapons,
or some well placed railgun shots to ease the fight, too.

Chaff doesn't seem to have any effect on the NPCs, it oughta distract their gimballs n turrets and break their scanning attempt.
Yet heat management and Silent Running does Work on greater distances,
depending on the scanner of the target.

I haven't seen teh chaff do much on the elite anacondas, some people were reporting some success using heat sinks to take you off its radar screen.

Taking out an Elite Anaconda in an Eagle is hard work, but can be done.
Shield cells are a must, and some people are saying they have upped the difficulty level on them in the last 24 hours or so.
Can't say I noticed it myself, but I'm in an Asp.

In all honesty the fact you are even considering taking on an Elite Annie in an Eagle is a pretty sad state of affairs, it should vaporise you in 10 seconds flat.

All Elite Anacondas are NOT created equal! I took out one tonight with minimal issues and just 1 shield bank in a semi-upgraded Cobra. I met a friend of his an hour later, who put up a substantially harder fight. This time I had 2 upgraded shield banks, but they didn't help. He blew me up in one shot when I made the mistake of hanging around with 67% (military) hull and some shield left. I'm guessing I didn't see the plasma that must've got me from my behind. Also, this chap was very fond of heat-seeking missiles which I seemed to do a reasonably decent job of avoiding by engaging silent running when the shields were down (my point defense system didn't seem to do much)!

Anyway - at least for me - not all Elite Anacondas are created equal!

Edit: This is the way it's supposed to be. An Elite Anaconda SHOULD be difficult to beat even in an all-A Eagle (or Cobra, for that matter). Eventually shield cells will be nerfed (just a prediction) and we'll see a LOT fewer commanders suggesting they're easy to destroy.

i had an assassination mission against an expert anaconda, am in a reasonably upgraded cobra (asset value 2 mill) , on the first attempt, I had major probs with the gimballed cannons and beams not locking so aborted that attempt and changed my guns to fixed and swapped the beams for rails, I get back into a USS with the target and bam he manages to take out my thrusters in the first salvo of hits, just a lucky shot I think as my shields were the same as previously and the cobra can take a beating after taking out a military general in a dropship, taking on wanted cobra's, asps, pythons etc... so I ended up destructing and obviously failing the mission...

On a side note, I swapped my C2 or B2 shield cells out for an A2 class one and noticed my shield recharge ammo went from 6 to 4... what the hell LOL

If you destroy the FSD subsystem, the ship gets destroyed instantly. It's far faster to kill them that way. You can hit the FSD from practically any angle, which I think might actually be a bug on Condas.

I've noticed some with insane shields that took me about 6 mins beam firing to take down, I've also had some that must have hull upgrades and take much longer to destroy. I've killed many of them (its a shame the stats don't register the kills or money earned yet) and you do get harder ones.

Interestingly if you get a friend to help you they see its difficulty listed as harmless, not elite.

why would the fsd destroy the whole ship? I'll have to give it a try and see if its quick than the power plant.

No. You should however not be putting yourself in a position where you can be shot often.

Get in the blind spot near directly behind the ship and stay there with good use of your thrusters.

With practice you shouldn't need chaff or SCBs at all, though it can take a while, and there is little margin for error in an Eagle without them.
