Elite Anacondas a walk in the park

I like the idea of equiping some elite anacondas with mines :D Now that would be a challenge if you were in a small ship like a viper

... would this mean player Anacondas would be similarly vulnerable?

No, not to the same degree, but CMDR in Anaconda still need to fear skilled CMDRs in faster, more agile ships, which is quite a few of them.

Not really no, they would just use FA off and spin around, and gun you down with ease

Why do people keep implying that FA Off is some magical key to super maneuverability? It's not, and never was.

If you think what happened in that video was a walk in a park

If you are talking about my video, it was target practice after a subsystem location change, and not a race to the destruction of the ship.

hmmmmmmm - can be very easy to kill one fast

Yeah, it looks like you are barely even using lateral/vertical thrusters there.

Nicely done. I bet people are gonna get a shock when Frontier give the Anacondas chaff, shield cells, proximity mines and torpedos.

It wont be easy then ;)

I've seen all of these on NPC Anaconda, especially in conflict zones, though not all together.

Doesn't change much, since I don't use anything but fixed weapons, and twp PDTs make quick work of mines. The shield cells are kind of annoying, but only delay the inevitable slightly.

I attacked an Anaconda last night with 2 coppers. I joined in after a while. I was spraying until my ammo was nearly gone. 3 ships continuosly shooting at it for minutes - not a dent. First shield layer went down for a while and came back up again. The Conda wasnt even Elite. I have semi upgraded Cobra (dont have the weapon stats in my head atm).

If some of them are easy then FD needs to take a look at them.

They do vary in equipment, and the ones with high-end shields and SCBs can be pretty tough if you don't have weapons more suited to knocking out shields.

chaffs are useless against fixed weapons... so i would just adapt - but mines dropping out while trying to stay behind ? :D

The only time I've ever even taken damage from a mine was the first time I encountered them, which was when a player was dropping them.

They are amazingly slow and if you are more than 200-300m away, the chances of being hit are quite slim.

SO, put SC on a 40 sec countdown and beef up the AI of Elite Anacondas, with mines and chaff a bit and it will be perfect.

How bad are players at FD not recognizing this????

Mines, chaff, and an SCB cooldown will not change anything in the slightest for me.

I always mount fixed weapons and two PDTs. I almost never use SCBs at all vs. NPCs.

Every elite anaconda I've seen had a pile of point defense turrets, didn't see any of them shoot at your dumbfire missiles, that probably needs looked at too.

The coverage is rather hit and miss. They have a lot of them, but the PDTs have similar blind spots to the rest of the weapons on the ship.

i wonder about the armors - so did anyone recognize a big difference between none and military while using a clipper or bigger ship? i got the feeling the armor and shields of big ships are nerfed atm

Armor is working fine. Run into enough of the larger ships, and you'll see some with upgraded armor.

Having them spawn some smaller ships at the higher end of the scale may make it more interesting

All these elite ones should be carrying at least a skilled Eagle, but I doubt this would change the outcome much. All you have to do is separate them, drop the fighter, and go back to doing what you were doing.

AI needs a fairly dramatic change before they will really be challenging.

Unless you have experience fighting ships with mines.

I use 2-3 shield cell banks and more than enough power in my ship for them, other than that two gimbaled beam laser main and gimbaled muti-cannon on smaller hard points .. nothing else too it really, there is hardly AI, if you fly away from them they send missiles after you, so dont, just use shield banks stay on its tail, just make sure you dont run out of shields and have enough insurance in case they one shot you with plasma and direct drive hit.

I farm them for cash. Sad part is I can make more money just trading. If they nerf combat I will probably quit playing as after hours of trading I go brain dead. More than 112T cargo hold ALWAYS make more money trading compared to combat ? pretty messed up ...

One other trick is to know USS spawn to you, you don't to fly around to hunt for them, wait at low speed or standstill even in super cruise and they spawn close to you, you dont have travel time to them. If they change this it would sux too, travel wait as your ship breaks is such waste of time ... I mean you just wait and watch it break which seems likes hours. But in converse, exploring a system by standing still is also pretty dumb and counter to what they game should be.

Farming USS is another joke, if I see one more funeral barge or marriage barge :( There is about 14 combinations. ASP easy kills pay the most. Loot spawed are all useless, since there is tiny chance farming USS you get feds and they fine you, making it not worth it to pickup, even if you get a 50k CR spawn its debatable if you want to go sell and get back to USS farming ...

The mechanics are quite broken IMO. Overall though I still love the flying, the interface is amazing and the ship just feels great, HOTAS support and headtracking heaven ... hence I still play, seems like they really need to add more meat to the game. Feels very much not done for $50.

If they nerf trading more and improve combat AI (currently sux) ... gimballed is a stupid concept and shield cells you should be able to only have one.

All just my opinion, I am sure others have other views ... trust me I loved all the Elite games, just saying how I am experiencing it.

Found the elite kill missions are pretty easy, myself.
Mostly grade A modules on my ship, with c1+c2 gimbaled multicannon and c1+c2 fixed beam, chaff and shield cell bank, targeting FSD so they don't run. Walk in the park.

Had a big surprise yesterday. Bounting hunting in my viper, wrecking a cobra when another cobra decided to hunt me. Had to run with 2 cobras after me. After a while only the bounty hunter was after me. After charging my shields 2 levels, i decided to blow him out of the sky. I've never been outmanouvered in the game like this time. I had to use all my tricks to get him. It was a competent pilot but it was harder than a lot elite ones. Maybe his setup was top notch. Made me sweat for the kill. Best ones
