Community Event / Creation Elite and Robert Holdstock. The origins of Raxxla, Thruspace and the Dark Wheel.

Raxxla has been a part of the video game 'Elite' series since the first game was released in 1984. Robert Holdstock, author of the original Elite manual and the accompanying novella 'The Dark Wheel' also wrote 'The Alien World' in 1980 using the pen name 'Steven Eisler'. In this video I talk a little about Raxxla, the Dark Wheel and Thruspace ... concepts in the Elite gaming universe that have their origins in 'The Alien World'.

It seems I can't rep you any more, Jaiotu.

Really nice find and thanks for summarizing it so nicely in a video! Having searched for references of Raxxla for a long time myself, you might have actually have hit the most important one (only one?), and it's well hidden!

As Raxxla is so elusive in terms of clues, this, although probably not cannon, is the strongest lead yet and needs to be followed, albeit wrapped in tons of tinfoil...

Love the video.
That book is a great discovery.

Eisler also published a book called: Space Wars: Worlds & Weapons.
Perhaps you can find more clues in that one too?

Possible. From what I've managed to gather 'Space Wars' and 'Alien World' are very similar to each other.
