Elite and Simpit

An advert popped up on my Facebook showing a man and a girl playing E: D in what can only be described as a cockpit. I couldn't find the original video, but this: looks similar and also from the same kiwi company.

Anyways, looks absolutely stunning.

this projection is great, but agree with 777Driver, NOTHING to compare with a VR... VR is the most immersive, any other screen solution, as big and large as it might, is just not comparable ^^

I was looking at those simpits from that Kiwi company myself, then I realized, the price of an Oculus is a fraction of the price of one of those simpits BEFORE I have to pay to have it shipped to the US, and the Oculus puts me inside the game in a way that simpit can't begin to compare to, so...why bother?

If you can afford that simpit, you can afford to get an Oculus, and a couple of spares!

Yes it is really an "if money were no object" type of flight of fancy.

My thoughts with the rift vs the above (if done exceptionally well) is that it seems to convey the "whole cockpit feel", which VR may not.

Although I've yet had the pleasure of a modern VR like the Rift.

Dude, when you are in the rift you are inside the ship, everything is real size and to scale, the depth is accurate, it's like the real thing.. you can't compare anything to that. It's not like watching a 3D movie, you are actually there.

But you can't reach out and touch anything with VR. What's more, the things that you see won't match up with what you can touch. I'm not complaining about the rift or any other VR solution, just pointing out that simpits still have a place.

Yeah like I said high end cockpits are great, I've have worked on CAE simulators for a while now. Am just speaking honestly from a huge amount of time in multi million $ commercial simulators , I will still take the rift any day over that.

interesting, how about posting a photo and who you worked for? otherwise it never happened. I have heard people claiming they were abducted by aliens to sound more interesting and since I' have experience with the whole range I'm pretty convinced you are making it up.
