Elite Assassination Missions. Advice needed.

Ok. So I've only made 2 unsuccessful attempts at the same mission, and I think I know what needs to be done, but some pointers would be appreciated.

My target is an Elite Anaconda (Clean), and he has 2 wing men, a Vulture and a Viper. I'm flying an A-rated FAS, HRPs, Large Beams, and Med Rails. Bi-weave shields. My first attempt, I tried to take out the two smaller ships first. I killed the 2 small ships and got the Conda down to 37% hull, then the cops showed up and I high tailed it with 30% hull left. My 2nd attempt involved lots of chaffe and going straight for the mission target, ignoring the flies. Got him down to 7% hull when the cops showed up, creased my drives and thrusters and directed my to a rebuy screen.

Either way, I need to kill the Conda faster. What build would be best to do this? Or is it even possible?

Just want to note that I'm loving the fact that there's stuff in the game that's this difficult.

You're doing incredibly well. A Vulture, Viper, and Elite Anaconda is about as tough as it gets for a single ship!

I don't know what more you can do other than kite the Anaconda away from the cops, knowing they're coming.
I'm sure you're targeting the powerplant... Maybe you should take out the Vulture ASAP and just let the Viper come at you, use your
shield cells to tank it and spend the extra time focused on the Anaconda? Maybe that would work?

Fun stuff!

Your doing a great job in the FAS, but it is a bit limited for the level of mission your doing.

Problem with the FAS is its limited shielding. I would suggest trying it in an FDL or something bigger. I usually do mine in my corvette with minimal issues. I did a video about it last week, I took on a clipper and 6 of his buddies. was awesome fun.

I used to have a murder Python specially built for destroying large ships. 2 c3 beams, and the rest PA's. Shields come off so quick. The heat buildup was crazy though, so occasionally heatsinks needed to be used. Downside was, it was crap against smaller ships, but I've done missions like this by just going after the target and ignoring the rest, targeting is PP and trusting to a little luck. In some cases, once the target was destroyed the escorts spout something to the effect of not having a job anymore and just bug off.

Kiting might work. But I think targeting the PP is a mistake if I leave the wingmen alive. When it gets to 0% he stops moving, and my strategy involved staying in a sweet spot sort of half in his blind and keeping him between me and the wingmen. When I got popped his PP was at 0 and his hull trickling down from 7%.

I was a little unlucky he didn't pop sooner. I was popping rail slugs straight into his PP. That's why I found SJA's reasoning about "zero pips in sys, npc with a perfect firing position = major ouch" being the reason for that infamous Python popping in 2 seconds, a little arrogant, almost insulting. She did a great job on the AI, but that was a little much from her. But I digress.

Yea. An alpha-damage FDL had occurred to me, but I was hoping I could swing it with the FAS as it's a great CZ ship. Although with the new AI, it might be worth selling it and fitting out a FDL even for CZs. I play the BGS pushing minor factions, so having a ship that can rack up kills in a CZ is a must. I stay away from Rez sites as a rule. It just is not Bounty Hunting.

Got a decent alpha damage build for an FDL? I could probably make do with a ship requiring reloads for CZs for a while. Just pick the CZ closest to the station or something.

Worst comes to the worst, I have a low rated Conda that I use for mining/trading, that might be sacrificed to accommodate these activities. I've heard the income from mining has taken a bit of a hit in 2.1 anyway.

Choices choices.

Thanks for the replies. Rep all round.

Hmm, well it seems your main issue is the cops, so what you could do, is trade a hardpoint or two with seeker missiles, instead of trying to kill the wingmen, just shred their shields and and target their drives, a few hits and they'll just go careening in whatever direction and let you get on with killing the annie, plus you could use the missiles to take out the annies sensors and drives to make things easier. (depending on the annies module grade and your missile count)

If security show up then wake out and wait in SC.
The mission target will come back to SC.
Interdict it again to finish the mission.

I also carry a wake scanner, they tend to try a high wake sometimes.

Really? That could be useful.

Missiles had occurred to me too. I started using them recently but haven't tried them out in as intense a situation as this before.

Kill the two small ships and shoot the conda once. Then boost away from the conda out of his fire range (~3.5-4.5 km is fine) until the cops show up. Once you see them jump in they will quickly disappear being too far from where the assault happened. Then you can turn around and kill the conda without worrying about the cops.

This is the same tactic used for pirate missions when you need to scoop up 30+ tons to keep from having to tank the fuzz.

That could be useful as a last resort, but it's a little bit too much like gaming the system for me. I try where I can to not just expose the stupidity of AI. If I really need to, just to help a faction then it could be useful though. Thanks for the info.

Tried torpedos in the meds and
a heavy hitter like plasmas on the larges?

Alternatively burst lasers are pretty good for close up module demolition,
going straight for the pp, luring the flies away and returning boosting
through to the main disabled mark after that.

Just some thoughts, maybe that will yield a success.

Try outfitting it with large frags instead of beams (pacifier if its possible)
Since im not Elite i haven't tried one of those missions, but large frags on the FAS is in my opinion the best weapon for dealing with larger targets

Change some of the beams to cannons or plasma, or even multicannons, you want weapons which do high burst damage.
Leave the sustainable weapons to res farmers - you're a manly cutthroat, stop being a cheap         and spend some money on ammo weapons.
