Elite / Frontier Elite at the cinema

Go to 2:45 - classic Pearl and Dean cinema ads

every things better with a Tom Baker voiceover.

I don't know if they are still open but there is certainly hope for those who are still looking for their BBC Micro version of Elite (googling shows them still being displayed in a 'Swansea local business' website). I'm impressed if they are still there.

They were last time I looked (about a year ago).

I used to spend hours in there as a teenager back in the day. I even remember seeing the Pearl & Dean ad in the Swansea Odeon cinema when I went to see Ghostbusters. Has 30 odd years really gone that fast?

Sadly yes, Commanders - its been thirty years! I too played ELITE on a BBC Microcomputer back in the day and still do (with Beeb-EM). I even worked in the Eighties for a store in Southall, Middlesex called TWILLSTAR COMPUTERS LIMITED who, sadly, did the dirty on me so they and I went our separate ways. I used to sit in the store for hours, demoing the BBC for new customers, and yes, used to show them ELITE as back then it was a new game. Did you know that the original video for M.A.R.R.S. Pump Up The Volume uses segments of ELITE in it? The scrolling starfield at the beginning of the video, some frames later of the short-range chart and DATA ON LAVE also! sadly the only decent video has a big gap in it towards the end, ruining it, but it's out there.
