Elite: Beauty School

With so many people here talking about cosmetics I've begun to wonder if the next Elite expansion/dlc should be a beauty school add on.

Perhaps you could dock at Nivea hub and learn the trade to become the best cosmetician in the bubble?

Obviously Frontier could charge for the pretend make-up you apply to npc's and each other.

3 quid for mascara? 2 pound for eye-liner?

That way we can enjoy a good couple of years moaning about Elite making money before the forum moves on to whatever bugs them next.

That's a good idea. If they promote PC and NPC cosmetics it could bring more women players into the game similar to a sims in space. And there could be more motivation for player owned outposts and houses/apartments/shops/restaurants on stations.

Yea and they can complain that everything is sexist and change it all and completely screw it up.

The fact that people just keep on encouraging Fdev to act like scumbags is worrisome to say the least. When they start charging for ridiculous things I am going to point to you people and shout "See its all your fault you fools" You did this.

Frontier are not being scumbags they're doing what all businesses do and that is making a product and charging for it.

The argument could be made that charging for any cosmetic in any game is ridiculous.

Agreed, This community keeps posting terrible ideas that just end up punishing their wallets and dropping the game quality.

i look at the state of gaming now...DLC, Freemium play, Pay 2 Win, Microtransactions, Season passes, paywalls, Pre-order deals, etc, etc and i wonder WHY???

Its because people are stupid and dont understand value anymore.

They have a business model that obviously works because they keep publishing profits. Its the community that keep posting threads that ask Fdev to take more of their money for the same thing.

Its mindboggling?!?!

and?

Should Frontier now give everything away because they post profits?

They are obviously not 'give everything away' because they are in profit...

Their current model is working fine. Yet people like you be like...

There is a fine line in the video games industry that once crossed the player base explodes and rebels and its very difficult for that developer to recover from the backlash. Alot of developers have crossed that line in recent years with DLC, Microtransactions, season passes and outright divisive greed and its been hard for them to save the game which pushed out the boat.

If Fdev where to listen to every silly 'Take my money ' idea posted on this forum, they will need to tread carefully.

perception of integrity is a very delicate vase.

This game is its community and being a persistent universe reliant on a populated galaxy, finding ways to push players away by locking them out behind paywalls and cash grabs will do a great job at diminishing that community and the games overall population/popularity.

I look at your thread and i wonder if you are being a POE, but its hard to tell on this forum in recent months. So i will simply reply as if serious.

well the banning of animal testing in the early 21st century, then the subsequent research on cosmetics meant they are a waste of time. Now no one uses cosmetics they look their normal selves all the time.

Instead engineers to have estetic surgeons, for example;
System permit for breast enlargements, collecting materials like sillicon or botox

Weird, my 16 yo daughter plays it for the trading and exploration, because she's geeky about astrophysics and economics.

But probably all the other female gamers are just like in your imagination though.

Um, yeah. Well I'm not sure how much could work lorewise in ED. The last female slanted stuff in an elite game I recall was that "parsnips" lady writer of that gossip mag in Elite:FFE and those online dating profile pages. And the ED books seem to have plenty of female protagonist pilots and characters. Skyrim's mod content has had a lot of npc cosmetic involvement though it kind of went gratuitously to adolescent and anime fantasy.

I'm at the point where the sheer number of paywalled livery options is an irritant.

If there is no free option or I haven't got one, I'd like them all rolled up into a single 'Buy Content' entry.

Just for giggles, no harm intended.:)

Had you posted that last bit on a game forum 10 years ago (give or take), most people would have been in full agreement.

It's the few that would have disagreed who made sure that we are where we are today.

Want to speculate about what we will be paying extra for in 10 years, and which would sound ridiculous today ?
