Elite books?

Hi all.

I'm thinking of investing in some of the Elite books and was just wondering if any of my fine fellow Cmdr's have read any? And if so, are they worth it?

I brought all of the Mass Effect books and found that they tied in well with the storyline and really fleshed out the back stories of some of the characters, so I'm hoping the Elite books will be along the same sort of lines.

Any thoughts on them would be greatly appreciated! :D

Hi Toad. I've read Elite: Reclamation by Drew Wager and Elite: Wanted by Gavin Deas. Both were really good reads and were full of Elite universe law. I'm currently reading Elite: Mostly Harmless by Kate Russell.....and so far, so good....another cracking story!

I've read Drew's and Kate's books that Del mentions, not read any others yet.

I found both of them enjoyable reads. It was nice to be able to relate to the universe they were set in having played the game! Drew's book revolves around 1 main character that makes some appearances in Galnet posts, (particularly recently with the distant worlds trip where someone playing as her went along on the trip), and also contributed to the Formidine Rift lore. Kate's character is the one she plays as in game (you can catch her streams on Twitch).

Well worth checking out if you have a spare few quid.

Thanks, I'll definitely give these a look. It seems that there's quite a bit of reading for me to get done! :D

This sounds great! :D

The whole Formidine Rift mystery is something that has really piqued my interest so I reckon It'll be a great read :D

I had no idea there were Elite books! Well, other than Lupine Lovers, the tale of the space werewolf that falls in love with the rogue smuggler. Sad ending, that one.

My roommate is writing a fanfic based on his Cmdr and mine (and another guy's).

Don't worry, it's well-written, clean, and fun to read. I've encouraged him to post it here when it's done.

I got a ebook for last Xmas mainly to purchase Elite literature that was'nt available in a analogue format.....
Elite: Mostly Harmless by Kate Russell. I thought to be not brilliant ( unfortunately ).
Can others recommend anything better ?

Edit 1 > I hope to find better stuff out there in literature land.

Edit 2 > politer version

My favourite is one of the shorts in the anthology called 'Easy Way Out'. I think it's a really well crafted and constructed short story.

i have the book Nemorensis. I haven't read it yet, but I did skim it to get a feeling for it. I have to say, I'm not to sure about it. It seems to be written very poorly. Hard to follow the story the author is trying to tell.

IDK...Like I said, I haven't fully read it yet. But reading through a couple chapters, I gotta say I wasn't very impressed.

A bit off topic: I did recently finish a GREAT couple of sci-fi books written by Stephen Baxter called "Proxima" and its sequel titled "Ultima". Highly recommend them.
