And if we are talking chess, I believe the proper term is bishop.... never heard of Elephant before, and Knight is what the horse shaped piece is.

I wish I still did glass blowing. Because making each ship I don't think would be too hard. I would have to use Solid rods and a ship cast. But I think it would be pretty easy. The Board could be a Mirror engraved with Mirrored as Black and engraved spots part as white.

I don't see Elite Dangerous and chess ever working out. ED won't provide a Queen to take out other ships. But PM me if you want a game. I'm pretty rusty playing Texas Hold 'Em the last few years. Still I have a very expensive chess set in my man cave awaiting an opponent.

Only knights can turn mid move anyway so it doesn't really matter...
They could do a Feds vs Imps one though...
Pawns = Eagles/iEagles
Rook = Coriolis/Orbis
Knight = F*S/Clipper
Bishop = DBS/iCourier
Queen = Corvette/Cutter
King = Farragut/Majestic

Or some variation thereof

Maybe you could make a digital chess skin, not sure if you could use it in chess.com, last time I changed my skin there was just a list of available skins
