Elite Cobra MkIII bounty 400Cr Really!!!

As the title says. At an extraction point and I take it down and after a good battle ( as she has some friend) I get 400Cr. Is this a bug or is there a game mechanic I am unaware of?

Probably a bounty hunter NPC that hit a clean ship by mistake.

Could be that someone collected a big bounty on that pilot recently, and they haven't had time to do much of a criminal nature since.

Check your contacts tab before engaging, it will show you what bounty that have on them. Saves time. Also use a k-warrant scanner if you don't already have one.

Lol, I was going to say that.

Whenever someone gets blown up by a station there's probably a security guy at his panel cursing that he only got 400Cr off some fully tooled up geezer.

Properly not a real pirate you shot down there, but merely a trader or bounty hunter who got a minor bounty for accidentally hitting a clean ship. As a general rule, I ignore all ships with 200cr and 400cr bounties, they are not pirates or otherwise criminals, but merely folks who have been unlucky very recently.

This happens all the time, and gets worse the longer you stay in one an the same extractionsite without FSDing in and out. Funny to watch sometimes.

Back in Beta there was a time where the Cops themselfs could get a bounty. What a big Free-for-all that was. And the reason why they no dont get bountys.

Maybe they had a 20k credit bounty on them... in another system. Maybe they just paid off their bounties. Maybe they just clipped a couple people while doing bounty hunting themselves and got a small bounty on their head doing clean work. I personally am struggling to see how someone would think this is a bug.

The KWS is you best friend when bounty hunting. Scan first. If you see 400cr move along to the next... And keep in mind when using the KWS and you hit a 20000 bounty that doesn't mean it's 20000cr at the next station. You may have to fly LYs away to collect. Check you trade chart to see where the bounty is...
