This is an small book I will be writing that has 12 chapters with 30 pages per chapter, grand total of 360 pages in this short book. It is about the journey of a single commander who is being helped by a mysterious stranger who contacts him while investigating FDN Patriot crashed on planet Shinrarta Dezhra A - 1. If you like this story, I will continue writing the book and post it on a PDF Website for everyone to view. It will include in-game screenshots, which help players visualize the story happening.

Chapter 1:
Unsettling Revelations

A lone SRV scuttling across the surface of Shinrarta Dezhra A-1, leaving behind a plum of reddish powder and rocks that gradually plummets back to the ground. Everywhere Emerys looks; he sees nothing but mounds of red dirt and dull rocks on the surface of the planet. Only Wolfe Reach light’s glaring off in the distance offers any signs of life in this desolate place. Of course the commander knew better to believe there is foreign life otherwise he would be driven mad by the feeling of fear and dread. The stories are nothing but wives tales used to keep naughty children in line, he thinks to himself while his cockpit jostles, alerting him to the fact he reached his destination. Quietly the SRV comes to a stop before mangle wreckage of a ship, unrecognizable due to Shinrarta Dezhra’s star bleaching any tattle tell signs of whom the ship once belonged too.

With a well practiced hand, he flips several switches which buzz to life the internal holograms that glare in a bright orange hue against the darkness in the cockpit. As the flood lights from the SRV come alive, he lets out a heavy sigh which vindicates his previous theories about what happen to FDN Patriot, a federation piloted Anaconda class ship that was station in 100:17:100 of federation space. Even though he was vindicated in his theory, he had a nagging thought in the back of his head that just wouldn’t go away no matter how much he rationalized it. Why would an imperial ship travel this deep into the federation space to take down a single ship then leave? It just didn’t make any sense in his mind. Why start a war with federation over this?

Slowly he leans forward before asking, “Artemis scan weapon fire signatures for closes known source?”

Several seconds comes and goes before a distinct female voice responds, “Readings match the signatures of known Imperial weapons fire signature commander Emerys.”

“That can’t be!” He exclaims as he cradles his temple in his hand, if this information gets out, he is going to have a VY Canis Majoris size migraine. No Imperial ships have ever breached this far in Federation space, let alone reach founders system. In the eyes of the Federation, this action would be declaration of war which would set the whole galaxy on fire and President Hudson would have his head for shattering his fragile peace during the election year.

“Warning.” The familiar female voice interrupts his train of thought. “Capital class ship warp signature inbound.”

“Ishtak!” He shouts as an eerie sound vibrates the SRV, leaving commander Emerys thoughts scrambling for a good excuse for being here without a permit.

Leaning forward as far as he can, he peers out the window towards a smoky cloud fills the sky with occasional electric storm racing across it directly above the crash site. The sight always catches him off guard. The bow of a Farragut class capital ship silently pierces the smoky cloud a divine spear, emerging with dramatic flair as the commander sits with mouth a gape. The technology involved in such a vessel is beyond any civilian understanding. No one beside the captain and the crew of a Farragut battle cruiser or Majestic class interdictor would know what lays inside that mysterious cloud that signals its arrival.

Rumors has it, both the Federation and Imperial scientists studied remains of Thargoid fleets to acquire new exotic technology in bid to outdo the other. Of course this rumor is false, because they don’t exist or so he wants to believe. Both major factions have been in never ending state of cold war for as long as he can remember; only using proxy independent factions in bid to push the other out of the system so they can expand their hold in the galaxy. He was recruited by the Federation after fighting in a proxy war to save some slave from Imperial trade market, thought he never understood why they choose him out of hundreds of pilots who participated.

“This is the Captain Cassandra of the Federation vessel FDN Lady Liberty!” There is a slight pause before the woman’s voice echoes on the intercom. “It would be wise to state your business here in Shinrarta Dezhra system.”

Emerys takes a deep breath and lets out a sigh before he presses a button and replies. “My name is Commander Emerys of the vessel Artemis, my Federation rank is Lieutenant. I was sent here by my handler to investigate the crash site of FDN Patriot.”

He is trying to bluff his way out of being arrested.

Few moments pass before Cassandra’s voice comes over the intercom, “Please stand by while we verify this information.”

He curses under his breath as she is calls his bluff.

Minutes turns into hours as he waits for an answer. It feels like an eternity to him, his thoughts racing through his head, should he make a run for it in his SRV or should he surrender to her immediately in hope Cassandra take pity upon him. No. He shouldn’t even try to outrun a capital ship; they would leave him as a pile of shredded metal and dust. Best scenario he could think of is waiting for an answer and then leverage the information he obtained from the wreckage. Blackmail could work he thinks to himself while fidgeting in his chair.
