Hardware & Technical Elite: Dangerous 2.3 Update writing to two drives?

Hello all. I'm using a family computer (ad I am away from my own), and I'm trying to update the game from 2.2 to 2.3. The problem is, the game is installed on the D drive, a 2tb hard disk, but the game is writing several MB/s to the C Drive, a packed-full 60 GB SSD, while also wiritng several MB/s to the correct folder.

Why? I can't let the C drive become full.

Did you actually install Elite to the D drive, or the Frontier Launcher to the D drive?

You have to do some shenanigans with symlinks to move Elite anywhere other than C:\Users\%Username%\Appdata etc

Or if you are using Steam - you can make sure of it's location, create a new library, and move it via Steam if you need to.

All you have to do is create a folder named "Products" in the launcher install location and move the existing game files into it. Looks like this:

Also beats Steam downloading the entire game twice and judging from the reports on the Steam forums just plain sucking at maintaining the game installation.
