Basically over in the modes of elite subsection of the forum I've asked for Meaningful PVP to be a part of this game. Instead of every kill being salty. Unless its at the PVP hub.

I want to give PVP a meaning to this game. By making certain activities made for Open Only. Especially for Objective control. Like the system we fought for.

The same 5-10 on average people show up to fight against it every time. And say things like "THAT IS NOT THE GAME I PAID FOR" Ect ect. Also, assuming I know nothing about the game. And All I want to do is "grief".

When in reality all I want is incentive for PVP. And that can only be done, if people cant go into solo and private to fight over objectives. And since all modes have Equal rewards. With different risks there is no reason for PVP. People cant defend their objectives giving PVP its purpose in this game.

But instead, as we have it now. PVP holds no place in Elite Dangerous. Not even powerplay. Because the same problem exists.

But we have people fighting against it. That dont even take part in this stuff. They wouldn't even be effected.

And its something SANDRO has been wanting to do for quite sometime.

The same applies with Player Factions.

To outfit your ship for open Vs other commanders. You need defenses for the job you're doing. Because the people you are fighting against in a war is based off PVP activities.

Or you can go into solo and private. Strip all defenses. Get 2 times the amount of cargo for transport, Faster travel time, ect. Not have to worry about your adversaries you are at "war" with. While fighting over the same objective.

Removing the need for direct PVP. Which is why the PVP hub was created. Instead of using what Frontier has given us that was meant for direct PVP. If they didnt they wouldnt have went though the trouble to "fudge the crime response" when it comes to powerplay.

The modes have defeated the purpose for what they have intended direct PVP to be for.

Remember you're not arguing my words here people. You're arguing Sandros. All I did was point out where he was right about the modes being unstable, and why its taken away a part of the game that was meant for that type of interaction.

Again, the player base would rather meet up for CG's or go to the PVP hub instead of using powerplay for its intended purposes. What most of the community uses it for is module hopping. Thats it.

The modes created a META where you min/max against others because thats the safest place to be. Maximum jump range to cut time, Maximum Cargo. And you never have to worry about seeing the people you are fighting against. But people are still fighting against each other for objectives.

I prove all that in the video.

I dont want them making this same mistake with squadrons. Squadrons are meant for the multiplayer experience. NOT the solo experience.



This is more than a modes problem, This is more than a PVP problem. This is more of a multiplayer balancing problem.

And id appreciate it if this stayed in General Discussion rather it being swept under the rug and shoved into a part of the subforum most of the people dont venture into.

Where is this PvP hub then?

Its a player made system with Ladder Ratings in San Tu. Its player controlled and developed through a discord. Where people can go compete against each other. Their discord bot keeps track of wins and losses.

Its great for practice and learning combat vs others and ship builds.

That can later be translated into the main part of this game like powerplay and player factions with the basic changes Sandro has suggested.

Just had a read through the thread in the PvP section here, doesn't look like a group of people I can trust, sorry. I'm sure they've all turned over new leaves & are now reformed, highly respectable citizens & all, but no, not for me thanks.

Handy to know they are all in one place I guess.


ETA: Just wanted to clarify that I'm talking about how they have historically behaved on the forums, nothing to do with how they play the game.

Also can say that the PvP hub is a great initiative and perhaps the best thing to happen to PvP in ED since the game was launched. Great fun to be had with none of the salt associated with random PvP in game.

That a player vs player mode allows players to optionally avoid interaction with one another is symptomatic of Elite's attempts to be everything for everyone. I've no problem with community goals being open to all forms of play, but power play really ought to be the pvp mode for this game.

Hopefully you guys can see the actual changes I am looking for. So random PVP in this game would actually have its place. Instead of that salt you speak of. We both know there will still be salty moments. But my hope is that we can use PVP naturally. With salty situations few and far between.

Nothing else is mode specific, why would this be?

As I understand it the modes are just instancing filters, the game is otherwise the same. I'm sure this has been discussed at length many times.

I think if you want clarity you'll have to join the queue ;)

Powerplay is a small part of the game. PvP is a small part of the game. If it's easy to implement (like the report crimes flag changes) maybe you'll get what you want, if it's not easy & not important I think you might be waiting a while.

Good luck with your quest though.
 
I really don't understand why powerplay can not be the open pvp mode of the game. It's nearly dead anyway. The powerplay module-tease could be swapped to some engineers, with or without that silly 4 week wait prequisite - and finally there could be one game mode that caters to open pvp playstyle. Why? Becouse it is still missing in this game - and it would hurt other players soooo much, that theire participation in solo/private for powerplay hauling or powerplay combat-zones would be restricted. We have same mechanics (hauling, combatzones) all over for everyone in every mode.

It could be. But it would require some work to be done, and there are lots of other things that also require work. Perhaps it's already on the list, perhaps FDev are hoping the problem will go away.

As That90skid says, you want clarity. So do a lot of other players, about lots of aspects of the game.

God I hope not. Because this is not what this is all about. Its just one of the symptoms to a larger problem.
