This is an area that could be nicer with some buff, like the outfitting screens got some time ago (and Outfitting screens still need a bit more work to be really clear when comparing the current item/build to the one being considered - I submitted some screen mock-ups in this thread ages ago).
We should have more clear stats on the ships, min-max config possible, "hot spots" showing utility mounts, hard-points and module spots on a player-controlled view (6dof rotation of ship displayed with current holo view and full-color view as optional).
Would also be good to have ships as bare/ base models along with ships that already have some upgraded modules.
And finally a compare function to select two ships (default current ship being piloted) and compare their stats side-by-side.
