Elite dangerous combat rankings

Can't seem to find a list of combat rankings on the forums does anyone have a link or a list of the said rankings ?

I know ELITE is the top rank and Harmless being the lowest.. I saw a screenshot of a guy who had over 2,000 kills and was still classed as harmless, I just wondered if anyone has a little more insight to this and how it will work and the time it may take.

IMO the harder the better.

Is there any indication of what is required to achieve these goals ? as I would of thought someone with over 2,000 kills would not be classed as harmless ?

I am at competent now while I only have 271 bounties collected, so I have to assume murders/assassinations do count now.

I reached Novice around 90 bounties claimed.

I don't think it has much to do with number rather then their relative skill.

For example, I've always hunted above my rank, so while I was MH I was attaching Competant and above.

There's probably a scoring system, so a Harmless Cobra would be one point, but a Deadly Cobra would be 10 or something.

That's correct, killing ships with a higher rank than your own nets you a bigger increase in rank progression

I wish there were numbers to guide us.....would love to know. I would have thought number of ships killed.

I can confirm, that conflict zone kills DO count as I just upgraded my ranking in one.

We know that trading is by profit (just over 1 billion credits traded), and exploration is too, just under 100 million. If this is the case, then perhaps combat is also by profit rather than tied to ships killed and their ranks.

Edit: I was doing conflict zones in SOLO because too many players were stealing kills. And I confirm that it did count toward my rank progression still.

it's number of kills, but not every kill counts the same. higher ranked count more. which is why giving numbers is impossible...

and contrary to a post above. murder does count!
