Community Event / Creation Elite: Dangerous Comic Strips

Here it is, guys! The first comic strip for Elite: Dangerous! This isn't the start of a series, but a one-off. I do intend to do a series at some point, but I don't have any ideas for one at the moment, plus I'm far too busy.

Anyway, enjoy the first comic strip, Mechanised Cargo. This is simply a story of a robot being traded by a care-free commander, such as yourselves. How do you think it makes him feel? (I recommend clicking on it to see it larger, on Flickr.)

Story doesnt make the three frames, is it apart of a bigger story??

In which case it may be better to hold them back until you have a full page or something..

If you're wanting help with 3 frame stories, then just ask.. you could illustrate little drabbles from the community..

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to make this just a quick comic, mainly to show what kind of artistic style can be expected, not so much for the story. However, I did try to make it fit properly as well.

I'm not so great at coming up with story arcs of my own, so this isn't the highest grade stuff we can expect. If I can recruit some people to help with a longer story-line, These should improve. That would be the series I was talking about. I suppose I could do drabbles for my one-offs such as this one.

I'm also working on a cartoon scene from Escape Velocity, the audio drama. I already have the go-ahead, and even a little design direction, from Chris Jarvis, so that's happening. I'll post that here as well, once it's done.

there is plenty of carry on in the thargoid and Fer-de-lance thread if you fancy it... and the drabbles threads are full of wonderful little stories..

If you're looking for a big ongoing story line... then that could be trickier.. but you could open it up to the community if you want.

Im happy to offer help and asistance if I can..and if you want what ever it is I offer.. Im not sure.

it's tricky to get any sort of story in with only three panels available, for the short ones how about a bit of comedy?

panel one:
Freighter about to dock with a station radios for clearance 'Pledge station control, this is rewards one - we have a delivery for you from the frontier'

Pledge Station responds: our stuff has arrived! Wahooo!

Panel 2 shows just a Tshirt with the speach bubble of 'The Logo is too big!'

Panel 3, same Freighter once more in space but being chased and fired on by a bunch of mk3's all with speech bubbles saying things like 'Too Big!'

Speech bubble from freighter: just as well they didn't open the one with the Mugs in...

Now you're talking... maybe not as critical a cartoon as that.. but yes!!! lol..

3 frames would be good for drama too,

First frame : ship swooping in, blasting at a bigger ship and hailing 'jettison your cargo or die'
2nd Frame: Inside big ship, revealing Thargoids, and them about to fire up defences and scramble ships.
3rd Frame: Wormhole opens and all ships get sucked into a parallel existence where the care bears live and the battle rages on but all of them are now made of wool.

depends how it's drawn, it could either be seen as critical or a tongue in cheek comment at the community's reaction.

I really enjoyed this. I would love to see a really good graphic serial dedicated to Elite. I hesitate to use the term ' comic strip '. It is to much ask i know;it means a lot of someone's time and effort.
