Elite Dangerous Dead?

First off, this is not a troll so trolls stay the hell out. Nobody cares for your opinions anyway.

Now, I am seeing so much crap between Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen that it makes the entire world sick. Someone just spill it and cut the monologuing. Someone tell me how Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen can even compare to each other when they are pretty much two completely different types of games?

Elite Dangerous: A very successful Simulator, right out of the gates, with no Early Access, that tried to go FPS, FAILED.....whatever!
Star Citizen: A very good FPS and a lot of work that is, disgracefully is still in Early Access as it began about the same time as Elite Dangerous, trying to be a simulator with one or two systems to explore, FAILED.....whatever!

It is very clear that both titles are going their own way as Elite Dangerous dumped Consoles to get back on track as a PC title, as it should have stayed, and Star Citizen, well, Consoles, I hope you guys aren't that stupid! So given what I believe are facts, correct me if I'm wrong please, why are people trying to compare them and say come over here, wait come over here, oh no, Elites Odyssey had a terrible start and was a bad move when Star Citizen has been in Early Access, for the love of God, since day freaking ONE and still is but go there for a good title but it is a better choice, come over here.

Now, I don't give a crap nor believe in titles that release in Early Access. I'll never buy into Early Access crap and I think it's a disgrace for a company to do. BUT IT IS DONE, no big deal and whatever!
But why is everyone saying Frontier Development is bagging Elite and it's on it's death bed because Star Citizen is on track? Around 8 years Early Access is hardly on track but yes, Elite Odyssey was crap when released as nothing more than an Alpha.

So here is your chance, spell it out clearly already. Why do YOU think Frontier Development is just going to let Elite die as that seems to be what a lot of people are giving their left arm to prove?

Please comment on what you know but DON'T turn this post into a fight or toxic dump.

I will not say much on SC as I didn't play it, but I did watch many playthroughs & gameplay vids, and I don't think they failed at space simulation. It's just too small and still in development. But I think that's all, and yea they should stop the early access and let it "start" offcially, and continue development via "living world updates".
This is just my own opinion.

For ED obviously, EDO is a failure (it's not in the past) many players stopped playing because of it, and even I slowed down playtime... sadly.
But EDO's failure was its amateurism, and the lack of back & forth with devs & testing team. Now that the game is kinda stable and playable, in itself is now still a failure because of the lack of listening of the players, best example is star map, it was changed to make it more accessible for console ... but ... no more console coming. Bring back old one! Even worse when planing to move a carrier, in EDO if you cannot go to a system (as it's full) map gets closed, and you have to go all through the loadings to get back and try again. In EDH it just says "failed" and soooo many QoL that should be implemented as it's horrible to use interface as it is.

And the biggest failure is the grind, they are just adding so much grind, with "official" logout/login gameplay that it's not fun in the end.
In the past when they added engineers, the grind was absolute cowpoop, and it was changed after loads of complains and so much wasted time. Sadly they did the same in EDO, and we are going to the same process of complaining>patching>failing>patching>etc... the numbers of ingame players decreased sadly and I don't like it, but what can we do? We ask for improvements and less grind and they just patch with tape something that was falling appart even before it came out (carrier bar trading).
Even worse, we asked for some planning, what are they doing, ect... we got ... just a vague list of nothingness.

For many players including me, they are just adding grind to keep players ingame, instead of making them play, they make us work... we don't need this.

"You can just not grind" "you just ave to buy premade G3 stuff and keep them this way" etc...
Yes, but then we miss some parts (huge parts) of a game we wanted to play, there are many (I hope) that do like grinding, why not, "every taste is in nature" they say, still all this is a huge waste, I feel sad that we don't really play this game.

Anyway, flying stays fun EDH & EDO (even if tiling is crappy on the last)

I'm quite surprised you would say that @varonica given your own history and what has already been said so far and TOS reminders not mentioned in past posts. I do have a higher respect for you. But you didn't answer my question. I'm truly disappointed....:(

Personal attacks are frowned upon and against the TOS's you agreed to when signing up for the forums, suggest you keep that in mind!
This reads as though it were copied off the walls of a mental institute.

My past history? Lol.

I didn't even read past the thread title let alone know there was a question there, there's so many "Elite is dead" clickbait" threads around that one more doesn't bear reading! Maybe you should think about that a bit more when composing threads, the first few words, including the title, set the tone for the entire thread, that's always been the way, that will always be the way!

History in past forum comments. I'm sorry, I suppose I was very wrong with your stance within forum comments.
Now that this forum has already turned toxic in less than 10 minutes. Interesting.

And yes, this seems to be a type of insult or attack as mentioned in TOS. So out of curiosity why did you @veronica did you direct your comment to me?

Nope, because you don't understand the difference between attacking the contents of a post and attacking the poster.

I can quite easily say, "that's the silliest idea I have ever seen", which is commenting on the idea, but saying, "your the silliest person I have ever seen for posting that" is an attack on the person.

So saying "this reads like it was copied from the walls of a mental institute" comments on the disjointed, rambling and incoherent nature of a post, saying " you sound like you just got out of a mental institution" is an attack on the person.

Therefore your comment was directed at the person, a comment on his IQ because the concept of IQ is related to the person, whereas just calling it a troll post would have been fine because that's a comment on the post itself!

No one knows. FD's next major move (feature overhaul?) will probably make or break it though.

If they provide something of value then Oddles can probably be forgiven in history. The fps game play is never going to serve the original mainstream purpose, but it provides mechanics and engine updates to generally move the game forward despite all the teething problems. But it really depends on what they do with it and whether they decide to double down on their failures.

My concern with ED is every new 'used by some' feature they add comes with a cost to ongoing development. You can graph complexity in software based coarsely on 'number of things * number of connections between those things'. The FPS could be either something that can be polished into a niche gem, or a boat anchor that drags ED dev into the void.

Good Lord oh mighty. Is there a real reason why you are crucifying me?
What the hell did I ever do to you?
Nope, never mind, everything you've said has been nothing but negative. Just move on.

Is there anyone else that wants to answer my question or just troll the post?

Thank you @rcdcce.

It seems to be a popular activity predicting the death of a game even if it not true. For example if you read some of the recent postings Minecraft is dying even though it's still a very popular game.

Elite: Dangerous is only dead when Frontier turn the servers off, not before, and I don't think that will happen for a very long time. Frontier as a company is still very much keen on Elite: Dangerous and I personally believe the game is very much alive and still has a bright future. Don't believe the doomsayers!
