I would like to invite you all to the Elite Dangerous Discord server where you can find funneh people and wingmates, and have fun with our community.

Why Discord?
Discord has high quality text chat with drag and drop image embedding which people seem to like in the #offtopic channels, good permissions management (altho not as good as TeamSpeak) and has decent voice chat. Should you wish to join and don't know much about Discord, feel free to ask here, on discord in the chat, or PM one of our lovely mods on Discord.

When you join the server you will land in this text channel, which will present you with some common sense rules, but more importantly will tell you a little bit more about our different channels, and commands that you can use with Botwinder. Don't be scared of these, it's all relaxed and friendly =]

After longer personal time of reduced Elite activity i'm back with a lot of cool changes, which involve a lot of services for player groups.

Announcement post:
We've been around for nearly a year and we are no longer the only Elite Dangerous Discord server, there are actually many player-groups, powerplay, and other communities on Discord. This is why we've tried to act as a hub over the last few weeks - this was by adding the #community_links channel. We've added a lot of cool features in order to get the community closer, continue reading :]

General Changes:
  • Our Elite Dangerous server is now Discord Partner and we have over 4000 members!
  • Close cooperation with the Galactic Academy to ensure that both new players and veterans are happy members of our community.
  • You can now use the !join command to gain one or more tags that would represent your interests, such as Combateer or Explorer, Empire or Federation, and many more! (see #info_and_rules)
  • A few new channels, for example patch-notes and other important things will be posted here in the #news channel, while obsolite channels will be removed in the upcoming few days.
  • You can also use these cool emotes:

Player Groups:
  • We are adding player-groups now! If you are a leader of a player-group, you can get in touch with us to be given appropriate roles, and have one created for your group. GroupLeaders can assign members to their group role.
  • Coordinators can also help you if you are running an event, summit or any other meeting. We have channels and roles set up for this purpose, superior VIP Voice servers, and experienced team to help with moderation and able to provide neutral grounds for discussion of any political dispute for example.
  • We will be also considering a channel for recruitment posts of these player-groups, depending on how popular it would be.

Player Groups
In order to be recognised by the Elite Dangerous Discord server as a valid player group, you must meet the following requirements:
  1. Have an in-game minor faction.
  2. Have at least five members (including leadership) willing to be tagged, on our server.
  3. Provide your Discord or TeamSpeak information to our Admins in order to be able to get in touch with you there.

Benefits:
  1. GroupLeaders will have access to hidden channel with the purpose to get in touch with other groups and discuss politics. This role will be assigned to leaders and their +1 ambassador.
  2. GroupLeaders will be able to !promote and !demote people into their group-roles. (Use of the command is logged and any abuse will be punished by the hammer.)
  3. Neutral Grounds on the only truly neutral and unaligned server in our community. - Groups will be able to organise and participate in meetings and summits hosted by our server. Coordinators will provide as much support as you would need. We can even help with in-game events with sign-ups, check-ins, lists of missing or present people, and their score/time. Mentioned meetings and summits can be moderated and Speakers will be able to talk without interruption, with managed questions, open discussion, etc...
  4. Recruitment post.
(Note that powerplay factions would be considered groups for this purpose, and leaders of discord/reddit powerplay communities will be treated as GroupLeaders.)
