Elite Dangerous Download

Hi all, I'm new in these parts so apologies if this is the incorrect place to post this;


I haven't yet bought Elite Dangerous, I'm waiting for my controller to arrive first.

I have a few questions regarding the digital download.

When I download the game I obviously have to save it somewhere, I guess I could burn it to a disk?

If, like I had to do yesterday, I have to reinsall Windows, can I reinstall/redownload ED without issue? Does it have a license key or is it registered to a user or account? i.e. can I install it and play it on any machine but only at one time with a log in or something?

Is my 'progress' stored locally to the machine or is it on a server?

If I buy the download, will I receive an hard copy/instructions via a postal service if/when available?

I'm just concerned about spending 40 quid and not physically owning anything but that's just me I guess

You can download as many times as you like, so there's no need to backup. There's also a £10 boxed upgrade in the store, which supplies a DVD.

Just noticed your other question: progress is stored on the servers, not locally. HTH.

Game saves are stored online, the licence key is double encryption and requires a code to activate sent to your email box and can be used on any machine after re downloading.

Don't get hung up on owning a physical copy of online games.

If you have a working account with a username and password to successfully log in, you can generally always download the client whenever you need it for free.
