Elite Dangerous Fan Film - what would you like to see?

Every now and again I find a fan film on YouTube based on a computer game. Some are good, some aren't but it got me thinking. Has anyone done a fan film on the game without using in game footage?

Now for the second part: if someone did do a fan film on the game, with live actors and CGI, what would you like to see in the film? Battle with Thargoids, the life of a trader, some lone Commander out exploring in the black, a mining run with the character always looking over their shoulder for pirates?

I think the Elite universe would lend itself perfectly to a film, the problem I see is which aspect of the game the film would centre on to the detriment of other activities.

Here is what I would do:

Intro - 4 different passengers are boarding a ship. The captain welcomes everyone aboard.
The ship leaves the gate, thundering music, great CGI of a busy star port, guns aiming at possible trouble makers, the whole wizzbang.
Captain goes and locks the passenger cabins for their safety during the jump.
Ship jumps to the system.
Other ships are seen at the beacon, including 2 Belugas and an Orca that are boosting away and charging their FSD drives.
The captain accelerates the ship, pointing to their destination port.
"Dear passengers, we have arrived safely in the new system, please enjoy the inflight entertainment system during our cruise. We should arrive shortly. Also don't forget, this passenger liner is in top 1% of its class. And if you look outside, you might see something interesting too"

The camera pans to the canopy of the ship, showing the star dust and other light spots fly past - for the next 90 minutes.
The ship slows down and the captain requests docking at the destination port.
"Welcome Commander, an ally like you is always welcome here" and the ship docks at Hutton Orbital.
The passengers disembark and pay the captain.
Credits roll.

I'd title it: Mission to Hutton - An Elite Story.

You may be joking but you're actually onto something. The story doesn't have to be Elite, just the setting, so make it a character piece. A murder mystery set on a ship making the Hutton Run.

Heck, you could even do Murder On The orient Express, the difference being that the Orient Express is a Python.

^What's been mentioned. A story set in the ED verse, not necessarily has to be a direct play off of current game mechanics. Perhaps a story similar to one of the pbulished in "Tales from the Frontier". Stuff in the game could be shown in the background like orbis stations, t-9's cutters etc. more like just happen to be there than making it all about a particular type of ship. And would prefer it to be a funded professional project such as a tv or movie series..

I probably worded the OP wrong, but that is kind of what I meant. To me, the Elite universe would make a great backdrop for a story, dare I say it, a TV series. The different aspects of the game would allow many different subject streams for an ensemble cast and different story arcs. Characters could an engineer doing their magic, a lone trader, a bounty hunter, miner all interwoven into the galaxy.

Hey at least we might finally see a Commander get up and leave the chair and walk :D

I have an Elite movie in my mind.
I haven't written anything but I have a clear idea of most of it.
Focused on a single character's story, who is a stranger to the Elite Dangerous universe.
So the movie is an independet story that unfolds in the Elite universe and this would open the film to all audience and not only players.
In the story you would find all game assets (spaceports, ships, supercruise, witchspace, federal pilots, powerplay, engineers), some game lore and also some players lore as easter eggs.
The protagonist is unconsciously involved in the main plot, together with other few characters (some in-game characters too). He's not the chosen one... he's just the right person, in the right place at the right time.
Thargoids are part of the story but as a background only. A space movie with aliens enemy is too obvious.
There's a bigger threat that can't be destroyed/avoided with weapons only.
The story will see the protagonist doing most of the typical game mechanics: exploring, smuggling, combat and some long time travel that will give time to the protagonist to think deeper about the life how he used to know it and how this experience shuffled all his certainties.

It occurs to me that we've already got a good film candidate - The Dark Wheel (the novella that came with the original game). Might need fleshing out a bit and updating for current Elite lore/tech, but it would work well visually I'm thinking.
