Proposal Discussion Elite Dangerous Features Funding

Hi,

I have a request for Mr. Braben with regard to the way the game is funded. Once the core game has been developed and resources are available, obviously further on down the line, could specific features be added via funding. For example you propose a feature like head tracking. Frontier deliver a quote and the community can pledge money to it's development. Once the target is reached it, it gets put in the funded features dev queue. Naturally the control of which features are put out to the community ultimately rests with Frontier. I assume you would take note of the communities wishes. The funding pledges would also provide an indicator of what the community would like and is will to pay for.

As for your post I assume that they'd be amenable to that. After all, they are planning on some feature addition modules already.

I concur, this is a good idea; I am hoping that the ongoing Gamma process after release will help to solidify this process too. I.e. We could all feedback and vote on expansion concepts.

I'm sure if the ideas were good enough there would be interest from the current userbase. Doesn't one of the funding tiers give access to future DLC anyway? In any case, I have no problem with putting money down for more gameplay ideas.

FD can eventually launch another KS for big extansion.

A large extension that is already planned, is the planetary landings. It is already a very big project to complete. He will asked at least 1 year after the release of version 1 of the game

Yes of course. But meanwhile, landing on planets owned by Thargoïd should be pretty awesome

Great idea, actually...

They could also put up a list of 3 possible "upcoming" features, letting the community decide (with their wallets) what will be chosen for implementation next.
