Elite Dangerous Gift Card Pricing

Is it just me, or is the gift card pricing on the Elite Dangerous store a little strange?

I want to gift the pre-order game to my 10 year old stepson, so logged in as me and thought I would buy him a gift card. I clicked on the drop down box to select the monetary amount to find that the only amounts offered are the below:

15.00
30.00
50.00
60.00
120.00

How come there is not an option for €40.00, as this is how much the game costs? I am not prepared to pay
€10.00 or even €5.00 over the purchase price to be honest!

I just want to gift the game to my stepson.

I guess I will have to login as him and see if i can buy it from his account using my credit card instead. It totally destroys the whole gift giving part for me.

Who was the person at Frontier that came up with this idea to try and gouge more money from people when they want to buy the game?

I've just gone to buy a gift card to give my brother for Christmas and have also noticed this, although I'm in £. The pre-order price is £35 but the closest I can get is £40, exactly the reason why I hate the Steam wallet and other such things, what's point of not allowing us to specify how much we want to put on?

I also will just get him to sign up and then purchase it for him through his account.

I think the price on launch day will be £40/50e, hence the mid level gift card buying yuou the game, or a pre-order and a couple of skins.

The way Mojang handled this was you bought a code, sent the code to someone else, and they typed it in in the store and got the product. Very sensible.

for the uk you can buy a 25 and 10 gift card

That = 35 ;)

True, but that's not really the point. Why should I have to buy 2 gift cards instead of just 1? Sure the price is going to be £40 on release, but at the moment it's cheaper. *Shrugs* Just thought that as you can't gift the game to someone else it would have made a lot more sense to allow you to choose the amount. Also what happens if you want to give a gift of 2 ship skins that are £3 each? You have to buy a £10 voucher.
