So I can say one thing - VR in Horizon is incredible!!! everything look so amazing and personal I think that vr ui is much better in 2.0 with Oculus Rift :)

If some one don't know how to make work Elite Dangerous Horizons on Windows 10 :
First of all Download oculus runtime 5.0.1 from https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/ (it has best compatibility with elite atm.)
1) Install oculus runtime, don't worry about compat mode, and the Oculus display driver will NOT install. (this is fine.)
2) go to c:\program files (x86)\oculus\service
3) right click ovrserver_x86.exe. Click properties
4) in the compat tab, set for windows 8 and Admin
5) make a shortcut to the exe on your desktop
6) switch the rift off.
7) run ovrserver
8) switch oculus utility to extended desktop mode
9) Close the OVRserver terminal window.
10) switch rift on - you should see your desktop, and have two monitors
11) open OVRserver_x86.exe using the shortcut you made.

ps Remember to disable auto popup in SRV!!! or it will disturb you all the time..

And 0.6 runs in the same way as you explained above. And must also agree with the rest of your statement it looks so much better and smoother

Thanks very much for that. I'm just waiting for my new PC to arrive (hopefully tomorrow) before configuring my DK2. I was going to post a "can someone give me a step by step guide for OR", but now I have it. I'll probably have a few questions because I'm a bit of a noob for these things so don't go too far away.

So you recommend 0.6 above 0.5.0.1?
I am playing fine with 0.5.0.1 and the runtime switcher but I will try to install 0.6 if it is better.

This doesn't work for me on DK1.

When starting the runtime with Rift turned off, compatibility win 8, admin on, it stops in the command console on 'Broadcasting new HMD Count = 0'

And trying with Rift plugged in power it says
'Magnetometer calibration not found'
'OVR:: Sensordevice closed'
'Broadcasting new HMD Count = 0'

Scratch that. Installed an older driver and now it at least detects the HMD. Now just needs to have Win 10 allow med to set the rift as an extra display, it just unchecks it in Nvidia display setting when I try to enable it. GOD THIS IS FRUSTRATING!
