Elite Dangerous II

How would starting from scratch fix the existing issues? There will come a time when it makes sense to write the game from scratch, but thats when the hardware has moved on considerably more than it has now.
 
I'm in favor of stopping dev on Elite:Dangerous in favor of a brand new from-scratch version that doesn't try to be backwards compatible... but not trying to make Odyssey into it.

If you're going that route, just let the current version fade into the sunset and start something fresh so you can reset balance from scratch, trim the fat of gameplay mechanics that didn't quite work, and make the ones that did tightly integrated with each other instead of super-compartmentalized. Just my $.02.

I'm not sure why you are asking this question. My suggestion is not to start again from scratch. The idea is to draw a line between EDH and EDO so EDO effectively becomes Elite Dangerous II. So I posted that idea in January and I revived it because it's pretty much what Fdev have ended up doing. OK, they haven't called it Elite Dangerous II but a rose by any other name...
