Elite Dangerous is a RPG?

Look at it this way we have people dotted around the forum asking for things like 'jumping to ships at start' etc instead of flying from their current location to the location of their desired ship. To me the whole thing about Elite Dangerous is its meant to be a Role Playing Game. You cant just jump from x,y, to z just because you have something there you have to actually make the pilgrimage to the location. Your the person not the ship, we cant teleport yet but we can fly in ED's universe so its the mode of transport :)

If we treat the game like a RPG instead of a 'just another run of the mill space game' we will get more out of it. Think of yourself as a intrepid explorer trying to make his mark on the galaxy that will be remembered for centuries to come not as some gun crazy loon who just wants to shoot anything with boosters or fire coming out of it. The next Elite rank or any rank should be something to savour not 'oh look I got a rank ho hum'.

We are all in this together and its down to us to make it the community and game we want to play yes FDEV has the last word but its us who make the game by us playing it together not blowing each other apart.

An RPG*

And I fully agree. But followup questions...

How do you feel about instancing? And do you play exclusively in Open?

To me Instancing is a evil way of doing things to me the Server/Client model would have worked much better. I play in all modes depending on my mood. I used to play exclusively in Open but after never meeting many pilots for ages decided to just try the other modes.
