It was decided that paper or digital words were no good way to store "contracts" so all all contracts are written in giant tablets that weigh tons and tons.
Adult video was permanently banned, Aisling Duval is the first one to bring back through her shock "media materials" she is the first soft star since the 21st century. Somehow the "media materials" usually weighs anything from 100 tons to 400 tons to "shock" a system to liking aisling. I'll leave it to your imagination as to how "media materials" can weigh that much. (holodecks in the future).
All forms of photography and video was uninvented, because it made humans too excited about the universe, as a result the federation invented GALNET a universe based text bulletin board. Communication became text based completely. Of course due the to the fact that the internet does not exist GALNET is a one way system where nobody can comment on anything, not even in text
this is what the federation wants.
All other companies went bankcrupt, the remaining ones only make ships at least the only ones that have the capability to advertise, of course since photography and video and illustrations were uninvented, they could only use their own logos.
At some point close to the 31st century, humans were attacked by aliens and catastrophically lost ALL DESIGNS of but 3 types of colony space stations.
by the late 31st century humans have evolved to a point where they forgot how to land on the planets they came from, as such all ships automatically get stopped before reaching the gravity sphere of any planet, as landing is simply no longer an actual piece of technology...
About the start of the game leading humans started becoming psychopaths who only care about command points and nothing else, they have no other motive but to prepare, expand and control as many systems as they can without motive : O
There is no computer storage in the universe of elite, all computers work in real time - thats why it is impossible for the nav computer to store your last jump point.
