I bought a Steam key for Elite Dangerous for Steam, then I open the launcher and it says Elite Dangerous is not owned by this Frontier account and is not owned by any third party accounts.

I have to initially launch Steam/Elite from my Steam interface then that loads the elite launcher and I go from there.

This is an ongoing Steam issue. You have to completely close Steam first. Once Steam is closed, unlink Steam from your Frontier Account page. After that, launch ED from Steam again. It should ask you to link your account. Once that is done, you'll be back to the game as it was the last time.

Get used to this procedure. This will happen again. Steam sucks for ED.
