Newcomer / Intro Elite Dangerous - Loving it!

Hello Fellow Commanders,

Been playing E D for a while now, since this is such an immersive game, I've been taking my time in terms of progressing in the game. So I finally got my little Hauler, found a good trade route and have been making credits (slowly but surely). I like the little guy and so I upgraded it with the following:

Hauler Upgrades

BH: 1I Lightweight Alloy <---need to upgrade this
RB: 2A Power Plant
TM: 2A Thrusters
FH: 2A Frame Shift Drive
EC: 1A Life Support
PC: 1A Power Distributor
SS: 1A Sensors
FS: 2C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 4)
3: 3E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 8)
3: 3E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 8)
2: 2A Shield Generator
1: 1E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 2)

I know some people will tell me I could've gotten an Adder, Viper or even a Cobra. But you know what, I like my little space van. Matter of fact I'm buying the yellow paint job for the Hauler and will call it "My Little Worker Bee".
I'm just enjoying the heck out of this game, this is miles ahead of X3 (which totally lost it for me with the latest release). And Star Citizen (yes I put my money in that too) which is becoming (alas I hope not) a Battlecruiser 3000AD in terms of the actual release is being pushed further and further in to the future.
So E D is here right now for us to enjoy and play and boy is it fun.

Welcome aboard. Good to hear you like what you do and you do it your way. See you out there. :)

Thank you, so far I'm still playing in Solo til I get better. Don't want to get blown away in the "real on line world" as soon as I step foot out the "door".

Great to hear. I have a Hauler and my original Sidewinder. I use the hauler for trading and then I go out exploring in the Sidewinder.

That sounds great, I think you don't need the biggest or baddest ship to live an exiting life in this galaxy. The "little" guys can do it too.

Really glad you are enjoying the game rakall! :D

As a matter of fact, I built a new PC back in the end of 2013 so I could play X-Rebirth; My mistake with trying to jump into it on 1.0 release. That seriously turned me off the game for good. I only played about 5 hours of it, and I never bothered to try it again since.

But then i found Elite Dangerous, & I knew I had found my home for the next 10 years :D
I do hope you try some exploration! The galaxy is immense, and you can get lost in it; figuratively speaking of course.. :D

As for Star Citizen; I really wouldn't worry about Star Citizen. It will be released in its entirety when it is ready. A 2016 release date for the final components is not unrealistic. It is a massive undertaking they are working on, & it is better that it is done right then to disappoint the fans.
I personally will be waiting until Star Citizen is fully released, because I want to play it as a complete game, & not piece by piece as modules are opened up. Playing the Beta of Elite was enough for me, & not to say that it was a problem or anything, it was just tiring & I don't want to repeat the experience all over again with another game.

When it's done it's done... Famous last words of Duke Nukem: Forever.... ;)

Good People,

Thank you all for the kind comments and encouraging words! Of course your right CMDR Alex Occasus and I will eventually upgrade to a better ship, it's just a natural
progression, but it will take a little longer in my case. Since I'm an old codger and don't have the reflexes and the drive like a young one anymore. :) I see myself as an old
truck driver stubble on his face, half smoked stogie, greasy cap on my bald head and just trucking along with my little beloved Hauler. Well they say you can play the game
anyway you want to right?

And milkyway_dingo I agree with you 100% on X3 Rebirth and the less said about this t*rd the better :(. Star Citizen, well I probably will take a look at it once it is released.

And last and but not least, I really have to say how much I enjoy this area of the E D forums, everybody is so welcoming and has encouraging words of support. Like one poster said before
I'll probably never leave this area, even if I should ever get a higher rank and get more experienced with the game. This area is just so nice and fuzzy and warm. :)

Fly safe commander!

The best thing about ED is it's diversity. You can play it it your way in the ship you choose, customised the way you want it. I don't think you'l ever find two ships in this game exactlly alike once the owners start upgrading form the basic ship.

When you're ready, the Adder is a realy nice ship. It's was my favorite until I got my Cobra. I'll be flying it for a while to. It can do pretty much what ever I want it to do and it's desn't cost an arm and a leg to operate.
