Elite Dangerous makes Forbes website !

So the posts linking negative "press" articles from random websites gets loads of response. Yet, a positive article on Forbes gets almost nothing?

+1 from me too
I may not see ED quite as rounded as the article makes it seem but I foresee it becoming way more than the sum of it's parts.
It seems to have devs that have a vision beyond pure economics and has the solid foundation on which they can build.
You can tell when a game has got peoples attention when it's community is so polarized

I would not have envisaged that the sort of people who read Forbes would be interested in any sort of gaming, except at a company/stockmarket level, although I will be very pleased to be proved wrong.

Maybe there is a whole new demographic of people out there who will now try out E:D and a few of them will stick with it.

That could really make 'Trading' interesting!

Nice one! :D - Forbes at least has credibility, unlike all sorts of other derp webpages and metacritics.

You would be very surprised.

There's been an overwhelming number of positive"press" and "review" articles so far. Almost all of these articles have failed to be honest about the state of the game, just simply waxing poetic about what the game "should be". And the ED community here has embraced such dishonest articles, simply because they are positive. But any negative articles or gamer comments gets instantly challenged, rebuked and neg-repped.

overall, I'm enjoying the game. But there's no denying FD has failed in many areas to deliver a solid product, with review sites and gamers here giving them a pass.

If FD doesn't get their act together soon, I don't see ED lasting outside of 2 years.

Nice to see someone who knows how to use his imagination as well ;)

Good article!

I think that sums it up a lot. I've been thinking a lot about what constitutes 'grinding' in a MMO/ game in general. It's much like paraphrasing the quote 'if you love what you do, it's not a job'. I hate the thought of slogging for XP in WoW for example but in Elite I've lost hours to doing simple cargo runs and faction missions and haven't blinked once. Pirate bounty hunting is different every time. I've done a rare goods run with no weapons, dodging interdictions and dodgy fuel scoops until I reached my final stop with only 6% hull. I add my own imagination inbetween the stressful moments trying to avoid destruction. And then I see 3 capital ships sitting in Kappa Fornacis having a massive fight. I want to tell someone about it.
Every story is different and personal and that's what I love about ED no matter how flawed or how much has still to be implemented. No online MMO started perfect, even Eve Online needed a line in the sand to build upon and I really hope Frontier Dev treats this IP the same way.
I'm here for the long haul, and can't wait to corrupt my eldest son to join me as a wingman :D
