4. Take to the stars in Elite Dangerous
It may have taken 9 years, but one of the longest running franchises in computer game history is back. Elite Dangerous, the fourth game in the series, has been in development since 1998 and was made possible by a very successful crowdfunding campaign that raised over £1.7m. Backers have been able to play various betas of Elite Dangerous over the last few months, but the full game has now been released and is available as a digital download or on DVD.

Like its forebears Elite Dangerous is an open world space game where you get to fly, trade, fight around the galaxy. Set in far future, Elite Dangerous features 400 billion star systems to explore and a multiplayer mode that allows you to team up with or fly against other players from all other the world. Just make sure you have a multi-button joystick, and a high-end PC, as on maximum settings the game looks gorgeous. Point your web browser to the official Elite Dangerous website to find out more; see you among the stars!
