Suggestions to make an already good game: Great!
I love this game. I backed it on Kickstarter, but if we are honest, it is pretty samey even with the fab Wings update. I have some suggestions that would/could make this game have some more longevity/game play/achievements (aside from waiting for the speculative updates) - and would welcome the devs and players comments
Ship load out ideas.
The issue: Every ship in Elite have fairly similar load out restrictions. Why not make each ship fully customisable? I would love to see combat where you don’t know what the opponent load out is
All ships a have pre-set class of module. For example – the Vulture has the following load out:
• Power Plant Class 4
• Thrusters Class 5
• Frame Shift Drive Class 4
• Life Support Class 3
• Power Distributor Class 5
• Sensors Class 4
• Fuel Capacity Class 3
Why can we not choose to put the FSD in the class 5 slot and move the Thrusters to the class 4 slot? I think these should be fully interchangeable to suit individual player style – and you would never know what you were up against.
(Yes, I know it can be done already with Shields)
Weapons:
My gimballed pules lasers are the same as my enemy’s!
Why can we not have weapon upgrades? It would be great to see (at cost obviously) the opportunity to tweak your weapons – limited number of upgrades per weapon?:
• Extra ammo for kinetic weapons
• Different ammo for kinetic weapons
o Armour piecing
o High explosive
o Heat seekers
o Dumb Dumbs?
o Sniper
• Increased range
• More damage
• Less heat output
• Faster rate of fire (less rate of fire more damage?)
• Different war heads for missiles
o ECM – disable ship for x seconds
o Explosive
o Armour piercing
o Turret/hard point acquisition
o Nuclear?
• Ability to find & equip unique weapons
Replace external hard points/internal:
• Sacrifice 2 (for example) module hard points for 1 weapon hard point
• Replace external hard points for internal
Rewards:
Medals:
• X amount of kills whilst no shields
• X amount of kills in a combat zone
• Highest bounty earned (day/month/year/all time)
Gameplay:
Warzone kills mean something:
o Kill xxx+ enemies – commodities have lower cost/better demand
o Earn a medal
• Defend/attack the space station
o Let’s bring all the players together in one massive kill fest (possible discount on insurance)
o Reward for winning – credits/rep/unique items?
Just things like this would keep the game “alive” for longer – more things to do, more achievements
