on a totally unlreated matter: Your name, man I haven't seen that in YEARS! I need to reread Elric.
Yes yes, rerun those stories, blood and souls for me thankyouverymuch :D

OT: It’s got me wondering what a good Elite movie would be... I’d quite like an anthology movie of Stories of Life on the Frontier (the freebie book that came with FE2) - several disparate tales but with a thread running through each.

I’ve also had a chance to skeg at the other pictures from Dune - I like the new Stillsuit’s appearance (looks like the Lady Jessica has a lower face section available) and I’m curious about the suits of armour; personal shield replacement?

(I'm not a legal expert or an expert in copyright law. This is only my opinion)
I'd speculate that it's only a copyright breach if the Imperial symbol is covered in Elite Dangerous's own IP copyright

For reference, here's the Imperial logo from Elite Dangerous

My understanding is that an asset (logo, character etc) doesn't necessarily need to be individually copyrighted to be protected. It can be covered by a copyright protecting the product containing the asset, if the asset is very recognizable and associated with the product. But generally yeah you want to specifically protect stuff like logos just to be sure the courts will go in your favour.

This. Trademarks have to be registered, but copyright is automatic.

Old thread but I'll bump it, how about making Hadrian Duval the main protagonist, The son of the bastrad son of the Emperor that got murder. Start as a pilot.

“As Hadrian Jansen, I was a poor child with no family other than my father. Together we scraped a living as independent traders. He never spoke of his past – not even when he died two years ago. That was when I inherited his ship and became a Commander myself.”

“When Imperator Mordanticus informed me of my heritage, I knew I had to accept my identity as a Duval. I’ve seen how diminished the Empire has become, and I know that new leadership is sorely needed.”

The fall and rise of the Nova Imperium, battle of Paresa, he become a commander by inherited his father's ship when he was 16, and become the Imperator of the Nova Imperium at 18, and now as a 19 years old Duval. The last male Duval remain. Prince of the Empire and heir to the Imperial throne.

“Nova Imperium survives in the Paresa system, a single light in the darkness. We stand for an Empire that respects everyone, from slaves to senators. I truly hope that any who value honour and tradition will help keep our spark alive.”

Finally he established contect with his cousin, the Khaleesi Aisling Duval. Her father is murdered by terrorist like Hengist, and so the story goes on...

Personally, I'd rather see a smaller-scale story involving a few working scrubs (without grand connections) in a Cobra caught up in some conspiracy and trying to survive against the expansive backdrop of the Elite galaxy than something focusing on grand leaders and power brokers. Something relatable and not all "Emperor, Imperium, Senate, Heir-Apparent, forefathers, President, Congress, Halls-of-Power, blahblah", with that only as a backdrop.

More Alien (with or without the alien), less Dune. For me.
