Offline Mode Expansion Pack

Hello to all. The forum has been a little 'hot', since the news about the cancelation, of the offline mode.
I don't want to contribute for the endless topics about it. Well, I tinked about it; somehow the game design needs the always on option, to work well and as expected. From what I've read, Mr. Braben will still try to add the offline mode; no guaranties. Commanders need to accept it as it is!

In not really a multiplayer kind of guy. Most of the time, I play solo. Of corse there are exceptions, as Arma 3 and DCS World. Sometimes I play solo, sometimes I go online, to fly with other 'serious' pilots.

I was waiting from a long time, for a 'real' Space simulator. Not a fan of story driven games. A dynamic living Universe is the Nirvana and Elite 4, could be it. As I've already written I need to accept the Game Design decisions too. The problem is, as anyone, sometimes I'm not in the mood to play online. sometimes, I don't even have Internet access, specially when we go out in the weekend.

All this romance for wat? Well, I wanted to ask if the community would pay, for an offline extension?
The game could have two commanders. One for online mode, saved in the clouds. One for offline mode, saved in you're computer.

Please, no flame wars. I just want an honest and polite opinion:
1) I would pay for an offline Mode Expansion. All the Universe only. I want it all.
2) I would pay for an offline Mode Expansion. Smaller section of the Universe? No problem.
3) No, I'm not interested. The game is good as it is. Always online mode doesn't bother me at all.

Personally, I would be very happy with option 2.

Regards Commanders

I am fine with the online mode as long as there is a server to connect to... however whenever they would decide to shut it down I would like to have an option to make my own server.

good luck with the poll OP but i recon the results won't make a blind bit of difference - I voted pay for offline version even tho I'm a kickstarter/Alpha backer

All the sheep who like to have no option.

I dont understand.

As is the question is really all about choice 1 and choice 3 given the wishful thinking status of it hence why the majority of all the votes cluster between those two choices.

If I could have it I'd love to have an offline mode. The game is good without it as is, that said if getting an offline mode became a question of money (which at this point does not seem to be the case ) then of course I'd pay extra to have it, however, as stated by FD that isn't really the case here so I'd hate for the main game's development to be sandbagged by this side project.

Why would I pay for something that was promised repeatedly? FD have stated they have ZERO intention of developing an offline version.

"We wanted to push online as hard as possible" -DB

And good luck getting the server side released in a few years. That'll be another broken promise.

I am optimistic that whenever that will happen there will be either private servers or server client available for running our own server. But maybe by that time we will play an other space game inspired by ED. :)

I cannot be sure... But... I'm sure there has been "one or two" of these thread before. Can't for the life of me remember where though.

I don't mind online at all, but I wouldn't mind an offline version that is a portion of the galaxy or even a different galaxy altogether for the purpose. A single player sure as hell doesn't need 400 billion systems to visit.

A storyline to follow or not would be cool, the ability to mod would be sweetness, and I would be soooo happy to play on the laptop when I'm on the road and not near Internet, though I don't mind playing Evochron Mercenary when for those times when I can't even make solo mode work. :D
