Elite Dangerous on Alienware Alpha.

Hi. Is anyone playing ED on the Alpha? If so, I really liked to have you're feedback and some pictures.
I'm still wating for mine. Payed almost 1000 EUR for the machine, customs taxes and delivery. I hope UPS arrive here, before the sixteen of December, for the release day. Regards.

i am waiting to buy a top spec alpha just waiting to make sure that it plays with elite dangerous , soon as you get yours. please post it will help :) as i understand it runs windows 8 just like any PC :)

Hi guys,

I was thinking of going for the i3 8GB Alienware Alpha for running ED, just curious if this would handle it ok and if you had any experience yet on your own machines?

I believe it has a modified Nvidia GTX 860M graphics card with 2GB of VRAM.

The GPU seems to be packing a lot of punch for its size in the reviews I've read, I guess the only draw back is that it is not upgradeable.

I could proably stretch to the i5 processor, the machine itself then has 8G Ram and a 1TB hardisk. TBH I am not after a top end machine just something neat and tidy that I can set in my tv cabinet with all the other junk and really I am going to be using it as, is a house pc and for playing ED. I'm not a big gamer anymore but couldn't not play ED loving it so far on my poor spec laptop.

I just didn't know if the i5\7 will make much difference for playing ED or not, as all models of the ALienware alpha come with the same GPU.

I have an i3 CPU here - seems fine. Biggest bottleneck for me is far and away GPU, I have an old 6630M so anything more decent should be good. Depends on the resolution of course ;-)

Just a heads up: I ordered the base model Alienware Alpha (i3 4gb RAM) and it runs ED flawlessly on high at 1080p with AA (so far). I'm sure you could probably even get away with Ultra settings if you wanted to. I set it to ultra briefly and it ran completely fine, but I wasn't in a heavily populated area, so I'm not sure what it would do in some cases.
