Elite Dangerous: Premonition - "The story crafted by you..."

Elite Dangerous: Premonition is here. The story crafted by you and thousands of other Elite Dangerous Commanders. See how your actions in-game affected Salomé and her story.

The story crafted by "me and thousands of other CMDR," sitting in the middle of no where, asking, "Has it started yet? Has it started yet? It's 20 minutes now? Has it started yet?" :)

Whilst reading the promotion email from Frontier on this, for a split second I thought it was DLC that might actually add some fun to the game. Then I came to my senses and realised it was an ebook. Oh well, I'll pop back in 2 or 3 months to see if anything has improved.

The book is not just about the Premonition event, that event is just a small part of the book.
A lot of the book is about the events that resulted in the Premonition event.
Sometimes describing what players did, who found X or the results of CGs over the time of the last 15 months or so.

In that way the story, or at least part of it, was indeed crafted by thousands of CMDRs.

I had nothing to do with it ... besides, not much point in buying the book ... I know how it ends :)

The ending is not the interesting part of the book, but it obviously depends on what you consider interesting.

I'll just leave this here...

It's not that easy ;)

Shes dies, a wizard did it.

Wizards were rumored to be wise - in fact, that’s where the word came from.[1]

It's quite funny, actually, being part of the background population in a book, when you know you were involved in certain events or part of certain groups that get mentioned.

A bit like a Roman peasant finding a history book that had an accident with a time-machine and thinking: "Hey! That was my village Hannibal marched through!"

Hannibal Smith - from the A-Team marched through your village ! ..WOW...! - you must be so proud !

i actually think it's a bit too much "name dropping" in the book, i enjoyed the unknown/new characters more than the powerplay characters or the characters of several players (which in part i know from in game qite well). but yeah, generally the final event isn't what the book is about - at all.

i'm very impressed about how the book builds a world around the games world, how much it is catching up details you know from playing the game and building upon. that makes it worth reading for me mostly.

If you're not interested in it, don't read it. I won't be, I've only just got round to reading the book that came with my Kickstarter package. Which was actually better than I expected, but I won't be rushing to buy any others...

As a novel, I loved it.

As a piece of interactive, inclusive art you have to see it along with the forum, the game and a whole bunch of independent youtubes.

It's difficult to think of anything else that shook up an entire community and made them rage so. That everyone who wanted to, could have some small part in realising.

The closest I can remember would be that Masquerade book by Kit Williams that had a whole load of people trying to solve puzzles and find the golden hare.

That lacked a forum like this though, and a game...Premonition was way bigger and way more enthralling, hell, even when I wasn't playing the game I was thinking about clues and things, checking Galnet on my phone and reading the latest bit of tinfoil and, when the event was over...It was a crushing emotional time, way more intense than any other game has brought ...The book offered closure and expansion to all the little bits we all followed.

As a piece of art, it may just be unique.

As my thread was burried by this one - does anyone know of any plans for an audio book version of this? I enjoyed the first book in audio format and would love to listen to the new one. I don't have the time to read books but I am able to listen to audio books at work or even while playing Elite...

Maybe ask Drew via twitter or even send him a message via the forums, real easy to do.

So I just got this in e-mail....

So close, yet so far away. I might as well of been at Beagle Point, since there was no neutron star to get back out of Elysium. This is as close as I could get, known as AH Cancri.
