Elite Dangerous prides itself on its degree of realism and immersion. Meanwhile in Odyssey....

-I'm breaking and entering inside people's room in a Resort to steal cat memes from their computer. So that my personal shield are stronger and my weapon shoot faster.
-I'm shot for a 100credits loitering pad I got from an abandoned and unpowered outpost
-If I don't stop IMMEDIATELY for a scanning by a guard, I'm shot. If I'm in the air when they ask me to stop, and can't stop because, well, I'm in the air, then I'm also shot.
-I'm stealing personal computers, wires, duct tapes and various items from people's lockers, since I can't buy them. To make my gun shoot further away.
-All the bartenders in the galaxy are also specialist in crafting materials, and will trade them with any strangers. They don't sell drinks. Must be a weird thing like the firemen in Farenheit 451 who start fires instead of extinguishing them.
-People are offering illegal missions overtly to anybody, by asking them loudly if they want to do something illegal, with people within earshot, in any bar in the galaxy. Sometimes against another faction, who have a representative within earshot. Should you refuse, they'll loudly ask you to direct any unscrupulous friend to them.
-I'm being dropped into a settlement, where my goal is to sit next to a pylon, while shooting enemies who's goal is also to sit near the same pylon. If I die, I'm "resurrected" through space magic, and dropped back into the fight. It will continue until one side run out of point that are debited by capturing the pylon previously mentioned. The settlement will then reset back to its previous stage of warfare, should I wish to do it all over again. It's like Groundhog Day, but with more guns.
-All the concourse in the universe look the same, following 2 or 3 different patterns. Colors changes though.
-0g outposts are filled with litters, that magically stick to the floor. There are also benches, which are used by people who forcibly put their bottom on it (0g you know). There is also a variety of crates, which have decided that 0g was not for them and act like there was gravity
-We teleport from and to the inside of our cockpit. Even though teleporting technology doesn't exist. However, we do not teleport our SRV and SLF, we need to dock them properly into the hangar bay.
-I can scan alien plants. I need to scan 3 of them sufficiently far away from each other to get a complete DNA sequencing. Apparently my tool can't do it from one, and even less if they are too close to each other. Also, the little canister I use to store the space magic dust is unique, and I can only scan one species of plant at a time. Should I want to scan another plant, I'll have to dump the invisible space dust from my canister, by pushing very hard on the big red button (for real). Do note, however, that once fully scanned, the magic space dust is transformed into an invisible data thing, and I can store as many of those as I want.

I mean it's so realistic I'm wondering what's real at this point !

Oh and even if it's presented jokingly, it's all accurate gameplay loop and features.

I'm literally describing what I'm doing. I'm literally breaking and entering in a resort, for "cats data". Which are described as a meme with cats. To give them to an engineer to upgrade my stuff.

And that's more or less weird than bolting crap you've mined from space cactuses to your engine to make it go faster?

I can explain that one. Minerals is refined and used for personalized parts.

I don't know why I need to break into people's house to steal meme. And I don't know it makes my gun better.
I didn't find the cat memes. Instead I have some air quality reports.

I am not joking BTW. It's literally the truth.

Please, we were already delivering food to planets that were starving when there is an agri-world 5 minutes away. That's faster than me irl going to get food at the nearby supermarket. We also had instant teleportation from anywhere in space through Insurance Tech, for our immortal superhumans (unlike our poor copilots who die all the time, they should be told about that telepresencing tech). Not to mention wedding barges with hot mikes, random convoys traveling in non-hypercruise for some reason, ships inexplicably visiting the nav beacon, crime/piracy existing in the first place when any random 5 minute courier job pays half a million credits, and popup pirates inside whichever asteroid happened to be at the absolute random ring location you dropped at.

Let's not pretend there's anything new here.

That said, I'll grant you that the pretend no-gravity in outpost does crack me up with its loud audio message reminding you everytime that the entire outpost design makes no sense whatsoever. Unless people's bottoms are also magnetised to the seats/benches?

I agree with the other guy, ED gave up a lot of it's world building when horizons dropped and we were hit with that telepresence stuff and like 10 individuals in the entire galaxy who are willing to soup up your ship. Engineering is one of the most "game-y" things in the game.

But then again, that cat meme thing sounds so horrible. But more of the same imo.

Still more credible. There are NPC delivering food visually at some USS (forget how they are called). It makes sense, food emergency, need all the food we can. People deliver it from the nearby agri world.

Lots of iron in the diet and magnetic seats ?

Spa was a bust BTW, people don't have computer in their room. So was the resort, same issue. Lodging is the place to go.

Get your cat's meme and opinion poll there.

Also there are no spa in the spa station. A power station and a few hab that's all. Very disappointing.
Ok, why do I have to shoot them off of space plants?

I mean I can't go and buy tin from a scrapyard in 3307?
No clue, but at least there is some credibility into it until you start digging. More than stealing cat meme for my guns anyway.

The game's always been a game - and thank balls for that, ever played those German sim games?

Rather eat my own poo.
