Yes I hope so too. If everything else is anything to go by and how well they have done so far I find it hard to believe nobody in Frontier has failed to notice the Elephant in the room! They must surely be aware of it and would not be releasing the game without solid missions. David Braeben has talked at length about mission scenarios and such elements and if the game goes live without any of this then he is the bgreatest conman I have ever seen! I don't think this is the case as he seems like a really cool guy. Still, I can't help feeling nervous...

It also says Beta ending with 22nd November, so I hope on Friday we will get full disclosure about any futher releases between Beta and public release.

I think them saying Beta will end on 22nd November is a fairly typical reporter misquote. The newsletter said that sales of Beta will end on 22nd November, that's not the same thing. I would expect 2-4 more weeks of Beta before gamma release. The reason for this will be to prevent having to give out refunds to anyone who bought into the beta in the last couple of weeks before the 22nd.

tl;dr I really hope Frontier have got this, I really do...

i understand your sentiment, alas i cannot share in it. following ED from its first day on the ks (well since 1986 really) the team @FDEV have always improved, always done better than i expected. at times they have so comprehensively over-delivered, they have literally blown my mind (dk2, sound, ship balance, gfx, starmap).

FDEV are so very conservative, prudent with the coms and promises that the players are not sure where they stand with this game. but i trust FDEV to deliver a fully grown up killer of a game before then end of the year. certain quarters of the press/interwebs will not like it. but we will and it will over time develop into the biggest & best vr space opera of all time.

landmark here we go, so hang in there a few more days :)

ps: this is not to say that there are no issues with the game. i rather place my trust into FDEV overcoming them

I also suspect that there might quite a lot of network polish so they will do Beta testing even after 22nd November, so I think it is a little bit of misquote there, true.

Even though there is some ambiguity in the news release linked above (ie the beta is not really ending on nov 22nd, only the sale of beta access and "full public release" could mean the release of gamma) all signs point toward a release of the game in 2014 - especially when taking this post by Michael Brookes in account. So this discussion seems destined to become moot very soon.

I for one really hopes it does come out this year. I'm like a 5 year old waiting for Christmas day. I've waited 20 years and now I have a taste for it I really want the finished game. Pew pew pew, neoow, zappa zappa zappa. (can you tell I'm excited)

And I will be very happy when it does. Release should not come at expense of overall quality, but small bugs can be fixed afterwards and non-critical bite sized features rolled in later.

Space works now do the planets
They better release it or their shareholders will be VERY upset and they can prepare to get ridiculed for their bad planning!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOw they have it even announced to shareholders there is no turning back anyway.

This is already been overdue since Q1 according to Kickstarter, so push it out the door already, then get to making the hunting on planets and tactical FPS, and character walk.

2 reasons behind 2014 release date, no doubt in my mind ^^

1) the most up-to-date client in house is now sufficiently complete according to DB/MB and they are very confident to deliver a stable build of it
2) the small matter of "a large proportion" of 7,5 mio GBP to be turned into revenue proper for 2014 calendar year

Doesn't financial year for FD end at April? Still, if FD thinks they can deliver, fingers crossed and let's do it. Stable release is stable, you can't earn your money sitting on game forever.

For sure, if you think about it, there will be at least a few weeks after 22nd November before Gamma starts. Anyone you paid an extra £15 to play the beta is going to complain if the release happens only days after, so it will for sure be at least a few weeks I would think.

I really hope Frontier are playing a much more stable release in house - otherwise I can't see how this game will be ready this year.
I played an extensive amount of Beta 3.03 today and it was really bad - about 3 crashes, 9 freezes and slowdowns caused by the maps, not to mention disappearing missions, station glitches and landing pads facing the wrong way!

Not fun.

I guess they ignored the will of the fans.

Pretty sure they have investors and paying their own employees to worry about. Whatever the amount they raised via kickstarter and investment is clearly running out so they need to launch the game to fill the coffers and fund the rest of development. However, if they don't manage to add substantial content (serious lack of things to do in this game at the moment, still feels very alpha) and much needed features like system/faction events and alliances by the time it launches in December, not sure how successful they'll be in gaining more players.

FDEV's key investors are

63% (DB 56% and key personnel)
23% (4 professional private/institutional investors)
the rest is spread thin and long so basically they serve themselves

and to add insult to injury FDEV is sitting on a cash pile of 8mGBP plus some 2,5mGBP deferred. that should keep them running a wee bit ^^

so you were saying what ?!

The poll says it all! Like a great deal of people my age (40+), I have been looking forward to this experience since 1984. After having to play through the bugs and lack of content, I can only say what a total let down this game is at this stage!
If FD do deliver something exceptional on the time they say then I'll take it all back. I would rather wait another realistic few months to a year than suffer even more disappointment for the sake of an unfinished broken game with no content.
