Elite Dangerous should partner with star registry.com

Star registry is a service that for about $55 dollars (USA) will name a star after anybody you want. I think that Elite dangerous should get together with star registry and offer discounts to mutual customers thus gaining more people in the know about BOTH game and services (this game and the registry) How cool would it be to pay for the star registry and then have the name you paid for show up IN GAME that YOU could travel to in this game.

Im sure that star registry cant change allready named stars and since we in Elite Dangerous can discover stars there should be Co-operational software that could be used that would make sure that the star to be named would not be allready claimed by either game or service

What ya think ?
*I think its a money maker and would like a cut ;) Plus I think it would boost gaming PC sales and for sure x52 pro sales not to mention Occulus rift stuffs :)

I will name a star after you for $20. Basically it means the same thing.

Elite tends to use proper survey references for stars such as HIP and BD etc.

Seems like a decent idea. Not sure how much take-up there'd be though.

There was a company selling land on the moon too. It's more of a novelty thing then being official in any capacity I think.

Star Registry is also a known con. Along with "Buy An Acre Of The Moon" etc
I hardly think Frontier would align itself to anything that's not remotely official in the astrophysics world.

With all the chatter of Star Registry, Con's and all that- why not just support the BOINC (SETI) program? It's free, and take nothing from you, and who knows. YOU might be the one guy to decipher / process that one bit of space noise that does prove there is ETI (Extra terrestrial Intelligence) .

Why look for it out there? Well there ain't none here....

Arent those things a scam anyways? In the sense that it will never be called your name in any serious matter and that it hold no lawful property?

Elite: Dangerous and Star Registry are two completely different things. One of them is a pure fantasy universe in which people's names are attached arbitrarily to galactic objects for ego-boosting purposes but have no real-world significance or recognition beyond the database in which they're stored. The other is Elite: Dangerous.

(Old joke format but it seemed appropriate).

My wife is a teacher and one of her student's did this for her one year. Star in Cygnus, RA 21h 18m 37.40 sec/Dec 37h 35m 19.66 sec. Twinkle Wrinkle Lil Star.

I should try to find it in ED.
