I don't know how many people use VLC for audio when playing, but if you do, you can use this Elite Dangerous VLC Skin I found on Reddit to make VLC look like it sorta belongs in ED.
There needs to be a few changes, but he is just learning and it looks hopeful. Thought Others might want to use it as well.
I use KICS from Ripley Galactic as my Voice Attack profile, and it has some great music functions that use VLC.
After skinning VLC, all you have to do is make sure that ED is running either borderless or windowed, and load VLC up, Press CTRL-T to keep it on top, resize it to your liking and put it where you want on the screen.
