I highly recommend if you are following or are interested in following the story line in Elite Dangerous you check out all of those threads and try to stay up to date with the posts. If you do check them out please remember to read the first page of the threads before asking questions in them.

This thread is not designed to replace the the other threads, rather try and help them stay on topic and organized so nothing of key importance ever gets missed. If it does not take off or work as intended any mods feel free to delete.

Thinking about "the hunt" apparently beginning on the 28th. For those who are unaware there was binary code found in the recent Elite Dangerous Gamescom streams. Decoded this is what it says -

"We've found something. Something incredible. Something the whole galaxy will want to see. The truth.

We could show it to you, that wouldn't be much fun so instead we're going to play a little game


To find us, look for a bounty hunter.
To find more clues you'll need pre-logistics support in a system with one star, two belts, three rings, and enough radiation to turn you green.
The hunt begins on the 28th"


I worked out that the system is most likely Pleiades Sector IH-V c2-5 and the PRE logistics support GAMMA is the station. I had previously been investigating these Fed outposts before the clue, so immediately knew when I read pre logistics support and enough radiation to turn you green that it was gamma base. I then checked the system map and was able to confirm the celestial bodies listed also match up.

What I am stuck on is the "look for a bounty hunter" part. Could be Nav beacon, bounty board, res sites, or none of those and something trickier?

Some people are thinking we should increase our rep with the controlling fed faction there, but I dont think that may be the answer. Maybe it is worth doing and I have myself built up my rep with both the fed and alliance factions there just in case. But the message said "PRE Logistics Support, that is the outpost name not the Faction name, so I lean towards the outpost being the important thing.

Any that are searching Pleiades Sector IH-V c2-5 please post where you have looked, what you have done there and what your interpretations of the clues could be.

Maybe so, but there is nothing to say it can't be worked out and found now. The message says "to find us", so I'm more of a mind to think there is something to find now if we can work out the clues. Why say "find us" if on the 28th it will become obvious? Doesn't add up for me. If they are going to find us on the 28th why tell us to look for them?

The random encounters with a DBX in the region are due to the DBX being a bounty hunter so thats a possibility

Well it does say the "hunt begins" and they specifically state they are creating a game of it.

The pre logistics gamma will be the starting line that gives clues to find the bounty hunter when the gun goes off.

Orion constellation is known as the hunter and is connected to the Pleiades. Another commander I have spoken with has some great stuff on Orion and specific stars in the constellation. I am sure he wont mind me sharing on his behalf but I would like to just make sure first and ask o7

One thought I had was destabilizing the system and earning rep with the anarchy faction. My thoughts on this were that taking out the fed and alliance faction ships would give me a bounty, making the bounty hunter want to come for me. I do not trust the feds or the alliance and I think having them in charge in a system with significance to the mystery could possibly impede progress.

Before the lockdown, the anarchy faction was the only one to have missions that were not donations, they had smuggling missions worth 2-3 mil but only available for commanders who have rep with them. There were no missions for them except for those, usually we see little ones to help build up rep but with this faction all you could do was bounty hunt their enemies ships.

I couldn't find another location for that faction to build up rep via missions/trade/exploration data either, so maybe that faction is the significant one in the system? I have max rep with the other 2 factions and no permits or special missions popped up so the only other alternative for that path I can see is to start working for the Anarchy faction maybe?

If we're posting theories and speculation then here's mine.

On the 28th were supposed to "look" for a bounty hunter. I don't think this means an NPC or a role player will appear. I think the Merope nebula is going to look like a bounty hunter from Gamma. The image will have some stars in it so we'll have to identify which stars he's pointing to.

Why? Because that will be the starting point of the hunt, the hunt for the truth. I'm still convinced there are purposefully placed images in the nebula. These images viewed in the right order will tell the entire story of "the cover up". They said they could show us but that would be no fun (and doesn't work because I've tried). So instead I'm predicting that on the 28th the imagery will be clear enough for all to see.

Just as a side note, during the 1st part of the last interview DB says "it's funny how the community reacts when someone makes a discovery. And there are things that take a long time to "appear". I believe it's in reference to the images.

How to test this: 1. Go look at the nebula from the dark side of Merope 5c. There's a large green felinoid, a dove, and a small canine pointing towards the next star system to analyze. There are other images that are still hard to make out but should clear up by the 28th. I still can't see everything so I can say exactly what the message is.

2. Ignore me and hope a bounty hunter shows up on the 28th. When one doesn't, look to the Pleiades nebula and there should be your bounty hunter.

This all seems crazy but time will tell. For now I've built a tinfoil bed, and I'm sleeping in it.

Whilst i dont think personally that seeing images inside nebulae is it, you may be on to something with the general idea. The alignment of certain nebulae and/or constellations may be something worth looking into. I am hopeless at working out that stuff but if in the right place at the right time there may be an alignment? Just as an example what I mean look at this screenshot here -

That to me is just a pretty blob but the way the line up is cool, and maybe like you say together from a certain place and time it may resemble the hunter?

like I posted before on the Cannon thread the bounty hunter is going to be looking for the bounties that the station Prelogistics is looking for. I bet on the 28th a new list or the same list will be in that stations news like there is now. i posted a screen shot in the cannon thread about this.

I am guessing also the Hunters ship will be that crazy green gas venting cobra from the leaked videos right before the alien ship comes into view.

The highest bounty is for a CMDR Buliel for over 500,000 credits and last seen in Maia system Obsidian Orbital. I bet this bounty hunter will look for the highest bounty from Prelogistics.

Entirely up to you really. You could bounty hunt and hand in bounty vouchers for all 3 factions but it is easier and quicker to work on one I think. Which one is personal choice, but if you were to focus on just the Anarchy faction, maybe try to only hunt the Fed and Alliance factions. I say this because every ship you destroy whether they are wanted or not will give you negative rep for the faction they belong to. Sounds confusing so I will try to make it clearer -

Bounty hunt Alliance and Fed ships in the system = +Rep with Anarchy faction and -Rep with Alliance and Fed factions.

Bounty hunt everything = +Rep for everyone and -Rep for everyone.

The alignment of certain nebulae and/or constellations may be something worth looking into. It's certainly possible. Is this from the Pre Gamma system? Because I believe if there's anything to be seen it'll be from there.

Factor in the first line of the hint, "something the whole galaxy will want to see". To me this screams it's something visual. Then factor in "we could show it to you". Then finally "look" for a bounty hunter. It doesn't say talk to one, follow one, or interact with one. Everything in the hint is pointing to eyesight. So it could be anything really BUT I've taken the liberty to look at the Pleiades from the gamma station and although I'm technically biased I've seen the beginnings of a bounty hunter dressed in old regalia. His face is partially obscured because he's wearing a hat he has something around his neck that looks like a large piece of jewelry. His arm makes up the lower portion of the nebula but I can't make out what his right hand is doing. His left looks like it's tipping his hat.
I won't post screens because I've been judged harshly before. Although if anyone else has images the want to share if gladly look over them and give my honest opinion with no judgement.

Plese post the image here as it will be hard to find in the canonn thread. I also have been keeping an eye on the bounty board when I am there, I will start taking screenshots also. The thing I worry about though that makes me think it may not be the right track is that the bounty boards are shared across both PC and Xbox but the players are not. So top bounty might be a PC player but it still shows on Xbox on the list even though I have no way of catching that bounty on different platforms.

Then again catching the bounty may not be important at all, just the searching part. The message says "look for a bounty hunter" not "find a bounty hunter" so that's valid too.

No it was from Diamond Vision, ah cant recall the exact system name Synuefe something, next door to Aditi. Just using it as an example of how noticable they are when they align and also how much brighter they look from planet surfaces.

It would be good if you could share what you believe it means commander. I have pondered that myself but 28th what exactly? There are billions of things in the galaxy that could be the 28th but which one specifically fits with the riddle?

"The hunt begins on the 28th" could even be the starting location and not the time - this is what I was thinking about but what location could the 28th refer to? Something in Pleiades Sector IH-V c2-5? Now I just wrote that I'm wondering if there is a Pleiades Sector IH-V c2-8 system?
